Rumors of a national ID card with a chip that allows you to be tracked. Sweet. This is going to save America.

If that happens, I will not carry one.

Supposedly there's some serious punishment if you don't carry one. I'm going to cut the antenna. Fuck 'em.

I don't have a problem with a national ID alone, I don't like it having an RFID chip

If you only knew the amount of data trails that you leave on a daily basis already right now. Little bread crumbs that make it pretty easy to find/track most people.

If you own a cell phone, then you can be tracked now. It is just a simple matter of the police or other agency getting a warrent for the data. Of course if your provider has off site back-up of its data in another country, then all they have to do is ask nicely and the info is theirs.

Something like this should be mandatory for all felons, child molesters, etc.

Those rumors have been around for years, probably no truth to them. If it would get rid of the illegal aliens, I'd be for it. Heck, I have to carry a driver's license now, what's the difference? I have lots of concerns about civil liberties, but that's really not one of them.

It going to tied to your bank and can lock down so you can get your money.
All U.S. citizens to receive National ID card by 2008

The Real ID Act, passed by Congress and signed by President Bush on May 11, 2005, mandates that all U.S. citizens will receive a National ID card by May of 2008.

Without this National ID, you won't...

Drive your car
Board a plane, train, or bus
Enter any federal building
Open a bank account
Hold a job
If you can’t hold a job or have a bank account, how much buying and selling will you be able to do?

Sorry, but it is real.

CNET article

What makes it really bad is that some see it as "no problem". Those people (who are much of the same crowd that see a difference between the Republicans and Democrats), are the ones that are allowing this nation to crumble.

Let's just roll over link

Yanno, our boy Bush is behind this thing. Funny...I thought he was all about freedom...HAH!!!

"My boy Bush"? LOL! And those links are from 2005 and 2001 respectively. Anything new on it?

Lou Dobbs has wailed about this for years, probably will never happen.

It starts with talk. Then acceptance. Then integration. When talk like this doesn't produce an uproar of disapproval, I get uncomfortable. This complacent public has swallowed some pretty lousy behavior from this government.

I understand our economic mess and who created it is right there in front of our noses and not much uproar or pressure put on our elected officials. Hell we bailed out the very people that created the mess and they are padding their pockets again as we speak.

You are right people today are happy as long as our government allows them to have a roof over their head and food on the table.

You already have an ID card ... SS... only difference is a photo.

They'll sell it to the masses by personalizing it with kitties and duckies as a background.

What is real scary is someone with a RFID scanner will have access to all your info just by getting near you. It will force everyone to shield it or ID theft will be easier than ever.
