Was it a record ? 8 Track ? Cassette ? CD ? Other ?

To be honest, I cannot recall the first album I bought, but I do remember that day

that my dad came home and announced that he had this record we should all listen

to -'"cause EVERYBODY was listening to it..."

He opened it up and played the entire Sgt Peppers ( THE Beatles, for you young 'uns)

record for me and my brother.

We didn't know what hit us.Think it was 1967....we were living in Lebanon, I do know

that much...yeah prolly '67.

I dont remember what album I first purchased, but....

When I first started playing guitar and piano in high school, I listened to the Abbey Road record for a year and a half straight and nothing else. I learned how to play every part of every instrument of every song on that thing. That album still amazes me.

Speaking of how badass The Beatles are - I'm about to purchase the Mono Box Set of Remasters that just came out. I'm nerding out over here big time, you have no idea.

The first record I ever had was a single 45. "Down in the Boondocks" by Billie Joe Royal. My uncle knew I loved that song so he bought me the record. Probably 65 or 66.

I dont remember what i first bought either, but i do remember the 1st album i learned to put on the turntable and play myself, Ray Charles "Hit The Road Jack". Man i LOVED that song when i was just a kid. Think i broke a lot of needles by trying to skip the arm of the turntable to that song.

Thats another album I learned all the guitar parts to.

Pete is a damn genius - if most folks ever saw what he was doing with that album musically it would blow their mind. He also was one of the first to have a huge home recording setup at his place. I'm talking rooms upon rooms of instruments, guitars, recording consoles, tape machines, synthesizers, etc.

Oh, my first single was a UK "She Loves You". My neighbor gave it to me when he found out how much I dug the beatles and thought it was really cool for a young kid in my generation to dig them.

I played it so many times on a shitty turn table that I destroyed it.

I can't quite remember which was first, but early Beach Boys, Sergio Mendez & Brazil 66, and The Ventures were some of the first.

man it's good to hear someone who appreciates him. I saw a thing on making of Who's Next and basically he would bring complete demos in for the band to play. Of course the drums and bass were greatly enhanced when Keith and John got done, but still, damn!!

I actually remember it and I actually bought two albums, not just one. It's a little embarrassing and I wish I had a much cooler story but here they are:

Those were vinyl and it must have been '75. Ok, go ahead and take my man card away now...

Oh wait, hold the phone!!! I just remembered I bought this on 8-track the year before!

Shit I might have had some Beach Boys on 8-track prior to that too.

Alice Cooper "schools out"
and then I would take my brothers albums.. Bridge of sighs, physical graffitti, Abbey road, We sold our souls for rocknroll.
I would even kipe my mom and dads stuff.. Boots Randolph and a comedy album hudson and landry losing their heads...

I was a high fidelity/stereo nut when I was a kid. I finally got my own stereo when I was in 7tg grade.

Here are the first albums I asked for Christmas:

Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life
Trapeze - Medusa
Rod Stewart - Night on the town

First Album I purchased:

Elton John - Captain Fantastic

Terry, if you sir, were serious, - you are FAR too sophisticated for this site,

grab your bottle of Chardonnay and have your driver take you to the

gentle hills of Tuscany in a quiet, yet adequately dignified fashion.

Pip, pip and all that.....

My dad had all the BTO albums and I played them things all the time, used to write all the lyrics down so I could sing along with the tunes.
