I hope he's a Skycap, I'd hate to know that a guy with his awareness (or lack thereof) is flying that airplane.

A wire that discharges static electricity to reduce sparks and damage to electronics...I think.

I walked into the trailing edge of an F-16 stabilator about 3:00am when working late one night. A static discharger sliced my neck open and the back of the stab sliced my nose open at eye level. Still have the battle wounds. The static dischargers had these little needes that stuck out both sides about 1/4 inch and the trailing edge of the stabs are about like a dull lawnmower blade.

I served on the Roosevelt a few years after that happened. They shoved that video down my throat about 30 times when I reported aboard.

The best thing that happened during my time there, an F15 landed during night ops with a GBU10 that failed to deploy until the jet hit the wire causing a 2000 pound bomb to skip across the flight deck like a Frisbie. Also had a guy let a tow tractor roll off the side into the Med. Cost him a couple pay grades.. Then there were the skanky boat hoes that used to get trains run on them, and a friend of mine marrying one.. Good ole days.

Aren't they C-5 escorts? Now those are a hoot to see doing carrier landings.
