Was just watching some old school video from the '70's and noticed every rider was wearing a kidney belt, and jacked up pretty high too, like past the bottom of the rib cage high. How in the world were we able to ride with those things on. Just the thought of it makes me cringe. Anybody out there still wearing one? The pro's sure left it behind like a bad habit, can't picture any of them wearing one. At point in history would you say the kidney belt went the way of the dino?

I ditched mine in about 2000. It was strange at first, but then I realized I could breathe so much better that it made a difference in my arm pump!

I still have a Gold Belt. Wore out my original one from '77 long ago. Bought a new one in '99 and its red, but its constructed the same as the 70s.

I used to wear one because I assumed it would prevent lower back pain, but also I believe back in the day the school of thought was your insides needed support and it was not good to rough them up.
