Its been hanging on our office wall all my adult (57) life it was my Dads.
Dad was in the Navy as a pby and tbm avenger mechanic.
The military would have all kinds of markings on it if it was from that.
I just enjoy looking at it and all the other mautical lamps and coumpas he had.

Or it was your dad's when he was a kid walking 8 miles in the snow up hill
