He is over rated as a drummer.

Somehow I knew that was going to come back to bite me. At least I didn't call them assholes and motherfuckers.

He's definitely high on himself. Great drummer though. Cool seeing Agent 99 in the video.

If so then I agree with him completely!!!!

I can be a bit snobbish when it comes to music, as was rather tersely pointed out to me by another Vitard who shall remain nameless but even I cant imagine saying anything close to that about other artists and musicians. It's one thing to not like something but quite another to insinuate intellectual inferiority.

And even if you feel that way, to say it on a live talk show is quite amazing. Smile

It's all so subjective. I went to a drum clinic once staring Terry Bozio. This guy can play with every single limb in a different time signature! Is that good? Hell yes. Is it useful? Not really. At one point in the clinic he went into a much simpler Funk patter and the crowd erupted. So, I don't know. I really like them all. Even Tommy Lee (as an example) has a thing where he leaves things out that most drummers do and it gives him his own thing. And Borg, there is nothing wrong with being just a bit snobbish. Anyone that has a certain level of ability I think buys them more currency in opinion.

Good point. Nothing like getting rid of half your audience. It's like when celebrities get political.

Good point. I'm sure he's not all bad. Geez, I should run for office. Seriously though, I have nothing against BR.

Let's be honest, Buddy Rich was describing country music almost the same way that most country fans have described rap and hip hop.

It's all relative......

I wonder what buddy thought of guys like Roy Clark and Glen Campbell to a lesser extent. I'm no huge country fan but do play a few countryish songs around the fire (Steve Earle and even a little Johnny Cash). Roy of course was incredibly talented on multiple string instruments and could play any genre. For all I know, he was likely a good drummer too! Buddy ain't no Roy Clark in my eyes although he was a great drummer.

I enjoyed Roy Clark. Chet Atkins could play too. I just heard this for the first time. I had a huge grin the whole time just listening to the perfection. No band behind him. Just pick up a guitar and play.

Tommy is definitely one of the best. Very hard on guitars as he likes to use them as drums too.

Went to see the US Navy Jazz Band last weekend. They were incredible! I'm not a fan of jazz though. Seems like just a bunch of people doing solos, no rhyme or reason to the songs. They had this this broad that could sing her heart out though.
