Weather check ...

Finally expecting some real rain in southern Oregon for the first time since probably June. Thought I left the arid shit behind when I left Vegas.

I was turned onto this website a couple months ago. It's cool for watching real-time weather activity and especially the hurricanes in the Atlantic and gulf.

Here is a webpage I found a few days ago while searching for Jet Stream maps.

This is a UK based webpage (the radar maps show the UK when you open the radar links).

This is the top level link, once the webpage has loaded, look for the "Global Jet Stream" link.

https://www.netweather.tv/charts-and-data

It shows the jet streams all around the planet (from the North Pole to the Antarctic and across all oceans).

The interface is a bit clunky, but I think it is cool... ...of course that is the opinion of a weather geek...

Friday on s side Chicago I was moving into a diff truck and getting a diff trl. Snow squalls on and off all day into the night. The wind gets real strong and snows hard for 20-40 min then stops. You get soaked in 1 minute. Today n Indian 5 am it’s blowing and snowing. I didn’t think it would stick but I was wrong. Snow on the ground to Indy- the circle. Fri mornin i finished the last stop on the load just n of downtown Chicago. The wind really burned my face and went threw my jeans. Too early for winter. Pic leaving delivery driving to s side.

Tell you guys what , the NE seems to be in for some really , really nasty stuff coming in. They are saying winds could reach over 100mph , with a ton of moisture. And it's huge , covering a lot of ground.

This guy here is one of a few guys I watch every now and then for weather updates. Him and a few others seem to be pretty accurate most the time. Anyways , this was the one video I saw yesterday , which he and a few others are kind of seeing the same thing.

Yeah we basically had a shit ton of rain for a week straight, & not nice drizzly showers, full on pounding,, combined with and 8k ft snow level that washed several feet of fresh snow down stream.. glad i live in a relatively safe zone..

Rough on the north county folks who just blame the gays and obama for this..

Ya, my spidey sense has been tingling for a couple days now since I first heard the chat about this one. We've had a quieter & nicer fall than usual here with not much windy stuff. So have been due for something. I hate high winds & hurricane type stuff, we're in a 2 storey on an exposed hilltop. We won't get flooded out. But damn I hate those winds. (I think I said that once already). I better make sure my gas jugs are full. And hope we don't blow away.

Well brother hopefully it doesn't get as bad as it's predicted to. It is weird how some get super nasty , and others when they hit land fall , they slow down quite a bit. Always been a little hobby of mine following weather patterns , and reading up on things like Astronomy. Stuff fascinates me. Stay safe up there!!

Had to do a quick day trip to the Seattle area and back today. Both of the main mountain passes were ‘chains required except for AWD vehicles’, which I thankfully have 3 of…..

Thank gawd I am not living on that side of the mountains right now because this is not just a snow storm for them, it’s a shit storm. Likely be a few days before most get out of their driveways, and coupled with the rare for them nightly lows of around 15F it could last into next week.

Yeah, it was crazy out today. I ran I few errands and, there were vehicles littered and, abandoned on the side of the roads.
I’m just glad I get a few more days off work to take care of a few projects at home.

Yep , it's sucking here too. I have about 4 - 5" of snow and ice now , with quite a bit more coming. Temps in low 20's and are supposed to dip into the teen's. I'm taking all week off in this stuff. Cargo vans do not operate well in this stuff!

Damn , I went out to shovel the sidewalk , driveway and clear off my vans. Everything has about 1" layer of solid ice below the snow. Shoveling makes it into an ice skating rink. Doors are froze shut on my vans. Not like I could go anywhere anyways. Having days off is nice , but when you're stranded on your days off....it sucks. Two days and I'm already going stir crazy.

I ran to Home Depot and a tackle shop to get a few things to keep me busy. Powder coating jigs and tying them up should help with the cabin fever.

We've had it very mild here in SE Wisconsin so far . Winter storm warning today maybe changing to rain snow mix later . We really haven't had any measurable snowfall yet this season around here which is strange . Of course farther north they have.

I’m still snowed in here. I’m just trying to stay busy. Between pouring lead and, making jigs, I’m content to stay at home. It wasn’t supposed to snow anymore but, another 3” fell throughout the night. It’s still snowing right now. With highs of 28*, the snow isn’t going away anytime soon.

Ice sucks last week they had a 100 vehicle pile up in western Wi. Mon morning 4 in wet snow in Sheboygan Wi. About 3-4 in wet snow in Chicago teus. I researched the 22 winter sounds like a bad 1 in the Midwest this yr.

What’s crazy is that Kodiak Island had a (December) record high of 67F just a week ago…..!

Now their ambient high is supposed to be something like 7F?!?!?!?!
