I love old stuff. Found this Canco brand can at a local market that had been shit painted black. Blasted it clean and gave it a fresh coat of matte finish OD green. I have a few other old ones in the garage I need to clean up one day.

Joe,

Nice, I like to collect old Military rifles to recondition & shoot.

I have a few commercial (sp) ammo boxes that someone gave me.

They are just sitting on my loading bench waiting for someone that collect them.

I’m the ammo handler oic for range in my unit. Picking up 34,000 rounds for this upcoming qual! I can dig those cans!!!!! Nice work !

Is that just a 30 gallon drum or invidual cans of 1000?


Picked these up this weekend! Another 30 cal Canco, 50 cal Modern and a huge sumbitch I’ve been looking for for the past couple years? Any idea what came in it??? Four latches on the lid and handles on the sides.

I've got 5 rounds of 30-06 with a Frankfurt Arsenal '15 stamp. I don't think I would shoot it though.

34,430 in 30 cal boxes palletized. Wish I could take pictures of the ammo supply point. Man is it a sight to see! There are live rounds all the way dated back to 1930. Not many, but it’s cool to know those things been floating around from asp to asp since the nazis were in power.

The Huge can hold mortar rounds ? Is there anytning on that box that says DODIC OR DODAAC with a number following ? Can’t wait to see that box finished. That’ll good olive green.

I love old stuff as well. I found this in a French junk shop, I'm guessing it's American? Some of the junk shops near the old battlefields are filled with some really cool shit.

Trench art is my favourite, like this shell casing formed into a money box in the shape of a postbox. It's post ww2 but still cool. Can't even remember where I got it from now.

That one looks good Barrett. What brand name on the end? I have these as well, same style/era as yours. United and Burrowes.

Trench art can get pretty elaborate. Good stuff.

Yeah just had a look and it's United, it's a safe place to store more old stuff, most of which is irreplaceable. I was given all of this by a relative who lived in France, apart from the US airforce badge, I was given that by a relative in the US Army.

I always found it sad that the medals would end up at car boot sales, some French soldier slogged through the hell of WW1 and once he was gone not even his family gave a shit about his medals or what he had gone through.

The WW1 iron cross is macabre though, it was won and awarded and then worn in battle, it's owner was wounded and died 3 days later somewhere on the western front in 1917, the rear side of the fabric has some of his blood stained on it.

Hey those iron crosses are from two different conflicts. The one with the swastika innthe center of the Cross is from ww2. The other is from ww1! Before Hitler in power who was the adopter for the swastika for German Nazi party.

I will probably donate it to the Imperal War Museum at some point if they will take it. The mangled bullet came from the little village that my relative lived in in France, it came out of the church wall when it was being renovated in the 1950s. There is also a piece of a Spitfire at the back of that photo, it crashed near the village in 1943. My relatives neighbour picked it out of the crash site as he was 15 in 1943 and carved Anglais into it, the boys father had connections to the resistance and the pilot was sent down an escape line and got back to England. Its all tagged with these story's on it, otherwise its just a piece of old aluminium.

Also interestingly the smallest coin in that photo is Roman and was found in a field on the outskirts of the same village. Crazy how much history is in Europe, that's just one tiny little village.

That stuff either. A museum probably would pay....or collectors might be your best bet.

Yeah I might end up selling some of it, but not the medals. It just doesn't seem right profiting from medals, considering that the green and red was awarded posthumously as well as the story behind the Iron cross. I just wish I had the death card for that Iron cross, I saw it years ago but my relative lost it. It had all the information about who the guy was and what happened to him it was also original from 1917. I would of loved to be able to return it to his family in Germany, if they wanted it that is.

I have a FB Radom 9mm that my dad picked from someone during the war. He was a merchant marine and they moved a lot of equipment for the military. One of the boats he was on LT221, is sitting on the bottom of the Cagliari Gulf after hitting a mine. They were towing a barge that is covered in other videos and even a Sherman tank shows up in one of the videos. Supposedly, MY machine guns are somewhere down in that boat...Sad

My shooting buddy has a bunch of guns. WW1 auto pump trench gun, full auto Lewis gun, WW1 watercooled (M1917??) MG, Thompson machinegun, Browning 1919, Browning M1918 BAR, Colt M16 machine gun(soon to be mine) and several other full auto guns. Lots of history there. Fun stuff when he would take my youngest son to the range to mow the berms.Smile

Wow, that must be priceless. Sounds like he was lucky to make it off that boat, that was an interesting video. Its also good see those guns in working order as well, looks like good fun.
