It's kind of a nice change to see these elite level dudes to struggle on a course!

I agree but, it makes me wonder what I'd shoot. I think I'd be quite proud to break 100.

I really enjoy seeing golf like this. Much more entertaining than watching them tear apart a easy course and shoot n the low 60’s

I love to see a bloodbath every now and then. Makes the pros look mortal for a bit.

Tough track right now with those pin locations and the wind

Phil just blew his top! Never thought I'd see that.

Some of those pin locations are just bullshit. USGA is a joke, impossible pin locations so the scoring will suck. Phil should've just picked up his ball and walked off.

Was watching today and I'm with KMC, It's over the top. Luck has too much to do with it. I want to see skill rewarded. Hit the middle of the green you're good but a ball 3 feet left of that rolls off? Bullshit. USGA has a turd in their pocket for low scores and they have gone too far. Still fun to watch though.

Don't think it's that much fun to watch. When good shots aren't rewarded and often times penalized the course setup has gone too far.

The reason it was playable in '17 was that we got enough rain round here to out smart their shit... oh and don't think for an instant they didn't have those Subaire systems running 27-7 even then.

Yesterday when the head USGA moron is compelled to address the issues that are OBVIOUS to the rest of the world you know they've over stepped it with the course.
I don't mind narrowing up the fairways and letting the rough get a foot high but leave the greens playable. Hell by the end of the day anything past a 6footer was going to be a freaking two put.

Rant over Boring MotoGP as well as a kind of similar 24hr LeMans ..

Happy Father's Day everyone.

Not sure if what Phil did was a protest or an attempt to save a stroke or 2. I'm guessing protest. It even looked like he might have intentionally hit that put too hard so he could troll the USGA. Why not?

That was so unlike Phil. I’m thinking he was just fed up, he was obviously not in a position to give a shit what he was going to end up with on the scorecard so I don’t see him doing that for a advantage.

I’m all for a tough course but these guys shooting mid 80’s is a little extreme

Definitely a f*** this move. Shot a 69 this morning so you know the course was effed-up.

Those peaked out greens are tough. These guys are bummed that thier career score is getting some strokes added here.

I only caught a couple of hours of the tournament but the greens might as well have been asphault or concrete. I like challenging but when you only have a narrow area to land without rolling off the green, it's a bit ridiculous. But someone is always going to be on and someone has to win.

I suppose this is the move that you guys are talking about? What was the outcome of that? Did he take a one stroke penalty? That ball wouldn't have stopped until it hit the fairway about 20 yards away.

I guess another click in the google answers the question.

2 stroke penalty.

Good interview by Phil. Knew the penalty going into the move and did it anyways.

Interviewer here makes it seem like Phil took a shit in the cup and left if for the next guy.

Geez. No apology needed. He played by the rules.

As a viewer I like the tougher courses. It's okay to humble the worlds best golfers occasionally. Everyone has to play the same course.

For even a very good golfer breaking 100 would be very good.

My brother is a 5 handicap, competes pretty well in NW pro-ams, etc. He played Chambers Bay right after the US Open back in 2015 before they got it back into “normal” condition. He’s played the course more than a dozen times, but said that in US Open condition it was impossible if you made a mistake.
