Cool. From a small town too. My town used to be small and it made me think about when I caught my first ten pound bass right in the back yard of Dion Sanders moms house many years ago. Right next to where he got in trouble for fishing. Ha Good times. Lots of athletes live around here now with all these new stadiums popping up in the area and everyone moves here so its not a small town anymore that's for sure.

Couple guys from my area made it to the top level.

Erik Bedard, now retired but he had a pretty decent career. He was close to signing a big major contract in his earlier days but injuries got the best of him. Pitched for the Orioles, Mariners, Red Sox, Pirates, Astros and the Rays. We got to work on his house. Quite the nice place. Big ass shop. That's where he practiced during the winter when he was home. Down to earth guy.

Brother and I went to high school with Claude Giroux who's the captain for the Philadelphia Flyers. It's not baseball but still the top of his sport.

It's cool to see people from small towns make it big.

That's cool.. I've known 10 to 12 people over the years who have made minor league baseball or practice squads on NFL teams. They were total all stars in college but barely scratch the pros. Very humbling.

My brother-in-law had his PGA tour card for one year. He was on different tours prior to that. Very very good golfer, it's just so tough at the elite level.

Another guy from our high school named Vincent De Haître qualified for the 2014 Sochi Olympics in the 500m, 1000m & 1500m speed skating events for Team Canada but he didn't attend the Games. He made his World Cup debut in 2013 and looking at the 2018 Olympics.

Baseball related we had Chris Bisson from our high school that was drafted by the Padres (2nd Baseman). Played minor league for their organisation but had to retire in 2013 due to injuries.

That must really suck to be so close to your dream and have to call it quits before you make it big. Not sure how he took things as I don't personally know him but I'm sure it wasn't easy. If that had been me I'd be depressed.
