The future just arrived. Say hello to beam weapons.

[size=150:1ehptu5a][b:1ehptu5a]The Ray Gun[/b:1ehptu5a][/size:1ehptu5a]
It's no longer the stuff of science fiction: the Pentagon has a real-life ray gun! It's officially called the "Active Denial System" and it shoots out a 100,000 watt beam of invisible radio waves which stops a person in their tracks. Correspondent David Martin experiences its stopping power first hand. "

That ray gun is bad ass. Would come in very handy to disperse a crowd. From a half mile the heat emitted from the gun can be very intense. I can't remember the price but it was cheap considering the defense budget. Politics is the main reason there are not more of them built.
The Shop
I think that's when they switch over from a 100,000 watt beam to something with a couple gigawatts. And if this is what they're showing us, you know they have something 1,000 times nastier under wraps.

So where's my jet pack?
I think it was pretty cheap and there may lie the problem. I saw something on it last night on TV. Some people are trying to get it sent to Iraq but for the most part the armed forces dont want it. Apparently they'd rather kill the enemy. I think it has more to do with how little it actully cost.
Maybe someone else saw the segment on 60 minutes last night and can shed some more light on this.
I think the military budget for studying this thing was just a few mil. But as usual I could be wrong. " title="Smile">
I just ran two of them without any problem.
Other than the annoying ads.
