I quit riding about 2.5 years ago and now about all I can do is wonder if I will ever be able to get another bike. I find myself searching the classifieds for used bikes knowing that I can't get one. I see all these great deals and can't help but wonder what it would be like to throw a leg over new bike. With the economy in the shitter and no job, I guess I can forget about riding anytime soon. I used to have a handful of buddies that I used to go the track with and now I don't even know the last time I saw them. Most all of them quit for the same reason I did and only speak to them about once a month. I guess it's just hard to accept the fact that I may never have the opportunity to go out on a freshly groomed track and fly over a big table top or triple. I remember a few years ago all I could think of was how cool it would be when I could race the +25 class and get away from all those out of control kids that don't know how to keep it on 2 wheels. Now at 27 years old I don't even have a bike and don't know if I ever will have one again.

Anybody else find themselves longing to ride again?

Sure, you'll have a bike again. After a few kids, years working your fingers to the bone, you'll wake up one day, in your fourtys and say "what the fuck, Iam getting me a scooter' and life will once again be good...

Keep your chin up and never admit you're without a bike.

Tell folks you're "between bikes". Sounds better and rolls off the tongue.

Find a used 250 or 125 smoker and jump back in.

Those tomorrows aren't guaranteed, dammit.

*With all sincerity, you sound like you're bummed and I wish you the best

of luck. Take care of your health, strive for a great attitude and think about all the good

things you have to be thankful for. And play some of your favorite music,

that always helps. Hope you find happiness, brother.

Rucka, hang in there. I've been there. It sucks, but if you can imagine it happening, it will happen for you one day.

I think being between jobs has just got me bummed....there is no way to save money for a new bike now. Tried to get the old lady to help "lift" my spirits but she wasn't in the mood.

I hope to get a YZ 250 2 smoke when i get back in it though. I look forward to mixing gas/oil and replacing rings instead of valves.

I feel for ya. I quit for about 6 years around high school and college. Never thought I could afford another bike. I'm 46 and have ridden and raced intermittently throughout the years. I've had 19 major surgeries including a fused right wrist. I still love riding and look forward to every time I get some seat time. Even when I had no bike,I was a Motocrosser. Like Rup said,I was either healing from surgery,or just in between bikes. I never really quit. Hang in there. You are just,as Ross said to Rachel,"ON A BREAK!"Smile

I fill for you I have a bike and raced last November but that was the last for me. I had my hip replaced in December and not suppose to ride again. I raced for 25 years and 15 years in the nationals. Now I'm just a old hasbeen.

Hey Steve, I know what you mean as well. While I still have a bike in the garage I never ride it... I talk about riding it atleast twice a month but something else comes up. I too couldn't wait to ride 25+ but sadly I think I only raced 6 times in 25+...

If you would like to get together and go one day soon let me know. You are more than welcome to spin some laps on my bike. Maybe you'll fall in love and buy it from me!!!

I was looked in aircells site the other day and you are still listed as an aircell rider btw! So you haven't completely retired yet!

I think Jeff has a couple of YZ's he wants rid of, or atleast last time I spoke to him. That was ofcourse 3 months ago.

Seriously though, you are more than welcome to ride my KX if you want!

Thanks for the offer Travis, but I just don't feel comfortable riding other peeps stuff. Too much can happen. Anyway, I do plan to get another bike after I get a job and have a chance to save some money. There are so many good deals on used bikes now it's insane. I still have my 110, just don't get to ride it right now due to the weather. I think I only rode it like 5 times last year too. Now that I have more time on my hands I plan to hit it pretty hard once the weather turns. However its not the same as opening up a 450 on a freshly groomed track.

When I do get a bike we need to get together and go ride. You don't live far away.... we can car pool and save some $$$. IS there even anywhere to ride anymore?...other then I-40?

I've been racing since 1976. One wife, and three kids later the bikes are still in the shop, the kids still like to ride, race and hang for the weekend.

We camp a couple weekends a month at the race track, hit the local national for the week and try to attend as finances allow.

We've been fortunate to be able to continue following the trek. Best family time we can find. I remember when the +25 class started. What a blast that was for an aging 250A rider... Get a bike, have some fun, and keep things in perspective as to what it all means.

Thats why I love Rio Bravo. No monster jumps to think about, just natural, rolling terrain in the trees with nice drop offs and off cambers. Riding that place is therapeutic to me.

Sounds like you are really living the life SC961. I can only hope that my future holds the same thing.

Travis..Is that track in Morristown still open? That was a pretty fun place to ride when it was prepped. I don't know if anything will ever be as good as friendsville was though. What brands do you all sell?

Friendsville was great as was Watt Rd back around 99 to 2001..........

I don't know anything about Morristown. I haven't been there in two years. There is a track in Strawberry Plains but I haven't ridden it.

Did you ever go to No Mans Land?

Never went to No Mans Land. Saw a few pics but that was about it. I used to love watt road. It was exactly 3.8 miles from my house. I would drive out there to see if the track was prepped before I decided where to ride.

Was at the dealer today picking up some tranny oil and grease, and there's a beautiful brand new (well, never ridden) '05 Suzuki RM125. They're asking $3600. I am so tempted...

Anyway, there are deals out there, some probably better than this. Don't give up. Good luck.
