Can't believe that someone didn't mention this yet. Don Cornelius, the creator of Soul Train died today. News says that he shot himself. That show is part of American Culture. People still do Soul Train Lines today. He did his thing.

When that show started I was about 18. I was into Cream, Hendrix, The Who, all of that super group shit. But the other genre that I really loved was Motown. Soul Train landed in the sweet spot of Motown. Here's a link to a list of great Motown songs. Anybody else near my age just has to think back at how great those artists were.

I have to agree, Heard it through the grapevine tops it off. Some of you guys probably have other favs.

Used to watch it every Saturday when I was a kid. It came on right after Bandstand.
