....................in cycling at least. Well done to Bradley Wiggins the first ever British rider to win the Tour de France and a 1-2 on the podium with his team mate Chris Froome second. Also Mark Cavendish dominated the sprinting in this year's TDF inc winning the Champs Elyse final stage to cap off a dominating performance for Team Sky.

This is the first year in a LONG time that I didn't follow the tour very closely on tv. Andy Schleck being out pretty much Depleted my interest. I checked in on the results and caught one of the later mountain stages, but after realizing how masterful Wiggins and his team performed, I really regret not watching it from the start. And it seemed like Frome could just as easily have won. Without knowing all of the details, my impression was that he could have gapped Wiggins in the mountains on more than one occasion but played the role of "team player" instead. Any possibility of Froome jumping ship to be the #1 on a different team next year?

I'll be popping down to Surrey on Saturday to watch the men's Olympic road race zip through on the way to London. The race is set up for a sprint finish, so when Wiggins says he's going for Gold in it, he means as a team, via Cavendish. I'll be shocked if Cav doesn't win it......

I'm hoping that our local kid gets himself right in the head (and heals up physically!) for the Olympics. Tyler let his early misfortune and some team stuff from earlier in the year get to him and he didn't represent his talent that well this year.

The Brits had an incredible tour. It was cool to see Wiggins leading out for Cavendish on that sprint finish on stage 19. That guy (Cavendish) absolutely stomped those guys asses on that sprint. Also cool on Wiggins to try to hold the race up in the Pyrenees when Evans was having those flat tires (due to the sabotage). I know that's unwritten protocol to do that, but we've seen guys attack (Contador) under similar circumstances. Froome is going to be a good one. I see he and Garderen having many battles for the GC in the years to come.

Excellent post.

Team Sky rode an amazing race. So much so that they neutralized most any attack that Niboli or Evans could muster.

Andy Schleck was my GC guy, and when he was not going to participate, I was bummed. I had a hard time supporting Wiggins UNTIL he neutralized the peloton for Evans. That was class. Then leading out Cavendish on the sprints? TEAM PLAYER.

I also agree that Froome and Van Garderen have set the stage for some epic races in the future. And Sagan? WHO KNOWS what that kid is capable of.

I would have liked to see more attacks in the final three stages, but Sky was just too strong. I hope next year is more competitive.

Watched every stage, congrats to the Brits! Van Garderern could have been on the box had he been the number one on his team, imo.

The type of stages make the type of Tour. Who knows what next year will bring but one things for sure it's likely to be different to this year as they like to mix things up. For the Climbers? or the Sprinters?

I think that's what made Lance just soooo great. He won no matter what the Tour type was. Unbelievable!

Agree 100%. He can be a legit #1 on someone's team.
