The most electricity ever used in one day.
350 megawatts. On a Sunday!

We have a miniscule amount of EVs on the roads at the moment.
I can't wait for the big switch to EVs...

350 megawatts? Are you sure about that? Seems a little low. 35,000 megawatts would be closer to it. Just a guess but I worked in the business for a long time.

I think I left off a comma and 3 zeros.
I think it was 350,000 megawatts.

They're claiming they can do 400,000.

350,000 might be a little high.Grinning I know there's a comma in there somewhere but on a good day even the biggest control areas are running about 75 to 80 thousand megawatts at Peak. California's Peak record is around 55,000 megawatts. In general the Texas control area does not have the total demand that California does simply by virtue of less population. In fact they are a net exporter most days.

Yeah, not in my wheelhouse.
The point was, how do we handle the additional load when we are already bouncing off the rev limiter?

This weather event also destroyed much of the infrastructure in Yellowstone NP with flooding.

Ours was out for a bit on Friday and then had a few short blips thru the weekend. Becoming a pro at setting the clock on the oven, but i really, really hope this is not a sign of what we are in for this summer......

What do I do when there's so many EV's charging we get rolling blackouts and I am sweltering in 115 deg with no AC in the house? I know, just cruise around in my EV and use that AC until the blackout is over.

Wait.....????? Dizzy

There ain't no telling what tomorrow brings but being around for almost 64 years brings a little experience. I've got a gennie that will power a window a/c, the fridge and freezer. We'll close off the house and camp in the family room. Cook outside on the grills. When things get silly...I tell the family..."were making memories". I reckon your average Ukrainian would swap with us without thinkin' about it too hard. Yeah, I know, the is 'Merica...it's supposed to be all unicorns and rainbows.Silly
