No thumbs down from me, but with some of you, Musk could shart in a jar and you’d fight each other to drink it.
Back on topic, farkin ugly “truck” and a lack of specs just screams it’s all about marketing and staying relevant, much like the prime mover

Honestly it looks like every "futuristic" car from a 70's Saturday morning kids tv show.

Too much fail.

I wonder what Jim's Auto Body and Glass Repair down the sreet wants to replace that.

Second thought, might not be so bad, as long as the new buyer gets government subsidiary funding for it.

The front is worse than the rear:

Looks like somebody forgot to torque some lug nuts.

I’ve been seriously researching the Tesla vehicles for a couple of months now and have looked over the very few that I’ve seen in parking lots. Electric vehicles are rare in my part of the country and seeing a Tesla is even more rare. I was seriously considering switching over due to my driving routine (30-40 miles per day) and ability to easily install a charger. If they had designed it to look like a normal pickup inside and out without going extreme, I would have likely been driving one in the future. After seeing the pics it’s gonna be a hard pass.

My biggest question, how the fuck do you see behind with the angle of the rear glass and no mirrors? They apparently didn’t attempt to back the trailer that they show it towing.

Someone in the design group is getting fired today...that is the worst possible design imaginable...even worse that the Model 3.

No thought went into that design whatsoever..literally took 5 minutes to draw up that body..

So disappointed...

Agreed, the artist renderings that were floating around were way better, although still a bit too modern for my taste.

My garage is probably 50' away from the curb. I doubt the city would allow the cable to cross the sidewalk and lots of times I am unable to park directly in front. Basically a no go.

I think my kids that live in apartments in the city would have a hard time charging conveniently. Not sure if I'd like to charge overnight if I didn't have a garage in a rainy area like Seattle, either.

But those aren't issues for everyone, obviously.

City life is even better. NYC already has a lot more charging stations than gas pumps. It is a lot easier to install charging to street parking than build gas stations. As for apartments, I imagine you’ll see apartments build in charging infrastructure in the future.

What is your concern with charging outdoors in the rain? There are charging stations owned by Tesla and others in all climates with near zero issue.
The Supercharger's I've actually seen have covers, so I've always been a little bit skeptical of plugging an EV in during a downpour. Maybe I'm over thinking it, though.

Charging stations are fine, but overnight charging at home would be the ideal for me. I'm always running late and hate even pulling into the gas station when I'm running around town. I'd have no trouble with the rest stops on longer trips, though.

As for installing street charging vs gas stations, I'd bet that it'd actually be cheaper to build and operate gas stations when you factor in the amount of miles of travel that they can offer. I haven't personally ever seen anyone leave a gas nozzle stuck in their car overnight to fill it up, so each nozzle has the potential to transfer a lot more energy each day than a street charging station would.

I'm still considering a Model 3 for my next new car, but I'd probably be less enthusiastic if I were an apartment dweller.

Why do people constantly think Tesla is government subsidized? Tesla gets ZEV credits (like every other mfg) but sells them for less than value to other mfg’s since they don’t produce ICE vehicles. The only subsidy is to the buyer but that ends completely for Tesla in December.

If you want to look at gross subsidies check out Boeing’s space subsidy, coal and oil...

I’ve never seen a supercharger covered and I’ve used them all the way from Fl to New York on the east coast and CA, NV and Utah on the west coast. You are overthinking the dangers. I’ve plugged up many times standing in a puddle during a rainstorm.

Think of what property costs in large cities. Then you need room to bury tanks and leave that area open for servicing and refueling. It’s a lot easier and cheaper to put a pay to use charger on the streets.

TSLA is tanking premarket. Sad
I’m guessing 10-15% but it will stabilize. They also just announced UPS ordered another 150 semis.

I think there actually is a market for this truck, it's just not the regular truck owner (me) who will buy it. I really hope they come out with an additional more serious/traditional version. They would sell like hotcakes at the price ranges this one came out at.

Impressive specs. What are the chances that thing ever comes to market?

My 13 year old is begging me to buy one. Tesla is the future - they’re just a little early for a lot of us.

Remains to be seen but they're supposed to start shipping them late next year.

I’m still curious to see if Tesla paved the way for these direct to consumer electric manufacturers or due to their success will cause the state dealer associations to be even more combative. When Tesla started, most franchise owners didn’t want to take the chance so they got through with little pushback in most states.

If they came out with pretty much a Tesla Ridgeline, I think that could do well. Traditional full-size truck buyers probably aren't going to be the target market anyway.

The truck that they presented, I'm surprised it got through all the approval committees and focus groups without getting torn to shreds, it's pretty terrible.
