I ran a BR600 for 6 years, just for personal use on my property and I was thrilled with it. I went to the Stihl dealer yesterday and saw they came out with a BR700 and had to have it.

I'm rather disappointed, I don't see much difference at all, I feel the 600 is a better backpack blower.

Anyone else have one? Have any opinions on these or other similar models?

I had a smaller Stihl and got rid of it to a friend. Nice unit, just too small.

I went with the Echo PB760 series. Excellent back pack blower. It does weigh a tad over 25 pounds I think, so it's no lightweight!

I have the KM130R with the blower attachment. At first I thought it looked a bit silly, but after demoing it at the dealer, it's actually a pretty serious blower. I came from a Husqvarna backpack and I actually think I prefer this setup better, it just seems more maneuverable in tight/hard to reach spaces. The CFM(which I think is more important than MPH), is between the BR550 and BR600. Costs far less at $119. Granted you have to buy the powerhead($349), but every time you add an attachment the powerhead begins to get cheaper. The Kombi is the BEST purchase I've made in outdoor power equipment. One unit for trimming, edging, and blowing. I can leave it running and just switch attachments, which is far faster than grabbing another unit, making sure it has fuel, and starting it. Takes up a lot less space in the garage, too.

Here's a cost breakdown on the 3 attachments I use most:

KM130R Powerhead - $379
Straight shaft trimmer - $89
Blower - $119
Straight shaft edger - $179
Total - $766

Comparable Units if bought separately:

FS130R Trimmer - $399
BR550 Blower - $479
FS110 Edger - $499
Total - $1,377

You start adding in the pole saw and the sweeper and it makes it an even better deal.

I also have the Stihl KM130R combo
I have multiple attachments:
FCS-KM straight lawn edger
FH-KM 135° adjustable hedge trimmer
FS-KM line head trimmer
FS-KM bushcutter 2 tooth weed wakker
HT-KM pole pruner BG-KM blower
HT-KM 37" shaft extension
and i will probably keep adding numerous stuff as the time move's on

I love it, it is superior in comparison with other machinery in the same price range i can do almost my entire property with 1 engine, it has saved me at least 2K

I have been looking at the same model to move by bg86 into a backup role. From my research, it is a great model and pretty much the same as the 600 with only more air volume. I am not sure why someone would purchase the 600 because the prices are not that far off from each other.

I went the supreme overkill route and bought a Little Wonder walk behind leafblower with a 9hp Subaru motor on it. All steel construction, 2200 cfm. It has the ability to send leaves into low level orbit, it's awesome. Totally overkill for home use but I get a ridiculous number of leaves and it works significantly better than any of the handheld/backpack types.

Thats what the pro's use. Just make sure the dog and cat are inside the house, or they'll end up in low level orbit also. Any lawn gnomes or jockeys with lanterns are at risk too. I blew a bird bath over with a ground blower once.

Yeah, with the discharge aimed primarily downward I'm worried it can rip the grass up at full throttle!! I already accidentally blew off basement window well covers with it.

It seriously took leaf removal from a 2 hour job to a 25 minute job. No wonder pros use them.

I'm a Stihl dealer and Gold tech. The 700 is definitely more powerful than the 600, but not by a long shot like people expect. The 700 was produced to edge out the Redmax as the most powerful backpack blower, and it barely does. Also make sure it's spinning correct rpm under load. If whoever pdi'd it didn't check. It could be running slow. It's an easy adjustment for them to reset it.

I replaced my old Stihl BR600 with a brand new BR700 about a year ago. I could not tell much difference in performance. The new one sure starts easier. I am happy with the BR700.

I would recommend the 800. You will notice the difference.
