Size does matter.
Early 60's Michigan 280 that I use around my place. 8V71 Detroit. Runs great, and sounds even better. Nothing like a two stroke, ya know!

Not quite as old as billyslad's but close.

I learned how to drive on that badboy and have been building tracks ever since going on 30 years. Not recommended by the way.

Actually, it is 63,000 pounds.
It doesn't get used much now that I have a backhoe.
I have 40 acres, and it was really handy for clearing land when we first bought the place. You won't find a tree that it can't push over.

It’s a Case. Dad has a 1935 JD model B on steel, another A, another styled B and an Allis Chalmers WD. I like green but prefer Olivers. I’d give my left nut for a Super 88 gasser with a wide front. But I live in the burbs with no room.

I’ll see if dad can send me pictures on mom’s iPhone and will post. He has an aversion to smart phones though.

Dad got the B when his uncle passed in 1983. I remember going to his farm to pick it up. It had been sitting outside for awhile and brush had grown up around it. (We had used the tractor once as I recall when I was about 5 years old to use the cultivators to turn over potatoes and pick by hand).
The motor wasn’t stuck so my dad and my uncle used a come along to get it on the trailer. He got it running then took it to my uncles farm to store it and it was run every now and then for fun.

I once ran it without filling it with water and overheated the engine. I was young and got water out of the milk house and filled it up with it still hot. Dad was not happy that day. He didn’t start restoring it until much later.

Here is the ‘35 John Deere B in 2004:

Here is another pic of what it looks like now:

Stretching the definition a bit. 😉
I didn't think that a wheel dozer thread would garner much participation.
Besides, ask any chick what that is, and she will probably say that it's a big tractor thingy. That means it qualifies. 😄

Very cool ! In '35 most everything was on steel. Ive had a JD H (with full cultivators), Farmall H and B, Allis C, CA and turned a WD45 into a pull tractor. Ive owned 2 Allis B's but the first one I never got finished with it and ended up trading it for a stock trailer. (regretted it since) Ive recently bought a '38 B to restore for me wife. its a 3 digit serial # model and one of the first made. Most of the stuff Ive done was 35+ years ago and we just didnt take many pictures of what we were doing. I have a few the wife took of me with my son on them. (he will be 34 this September so that kinda dates them)

This is the wife and her '38 B. Just a mag, crank and hand brakes. The first tractor with rubber tires standard.

I got one of them new orange ones with a cab last summer myself. A/C and a radio sure makes summer easier.

Kubota and Mahindra? Or Case IH?
McCormick.

Branded that, anyway. But Case IH roots. Hard to keep track of who owns who or what sometimes in the tractor world.

I got beat by a WD45 with my dads WD at a tractor pull. I know they sell kits to bump the WDs up to WD45 power but I’m stuck in Texas for the time being.

You have a nice B. A girlfriends neighbor had a D21. First time I saw a chisel plow being used - BIG power. I love the sound of those Farmalls too - wouldn’t mind an H, M or MTA. What’s they saying? If it ain’t red leave it in the shed.

D21 is a beast. My best friend who I row crop with has a bunch of orange, C, CA, D17 and recently got a 200. That thing pulls like a dream.

Yeah Ive heard that about red, I gotta admit the International **86 series are some badass machines. Would love to have a clean 1086 to pull a pasture renovator, subsoiler and/or offset disk. My neighbor uses his with his big Aerway aerator.

'50 Model A. My Dad picked it up in '90. Still use it to disc the track and pull a brush mower. Also good for pulling out trucks when stuck 4x4ing. Wish I had something newer with a 3 pt though.

When I was younger I worked in the parts dept of a John Deere dealership. We use to have lots of older guys come in that were looking for parts for their old tractors. Met lots of cool old guys and boy they always loved to talk about their tractors and show pictures. They had a local tractor club and they would drive their tractors in parades and such.

Like this thread more than motocross.

Always loved old tractors especially the blue or green variety, but same as motocross, modern designs have less charactor and all look the same to me now.

At 63000 lbs, you call it whatever it wants to be called.

Not sure that ROPS is rated for that weight though

The ROPS appears to be adapted from another machine of some kind, as this machine didn't even have one when new.
It may not look like it in that picture, but it is very stout.
I have owned it for almost 20 years. I paid $3,500 for it, if I remember correctly. Still really enjoy running it. 😃

Anybody have experience with mid 70's construction king backhoes?

Neighbor had one that his late father rebuilt the engine on, replaced the brakes, and put all new hoses on.

Starts right up and everything seems pretty tight.

Looks like it has the old 4 stick controls, which I am not excited about, but he only wants $4k for it.

It looks like you can pull 2 pins and swap 2 hoses and set the backhoe off so it could be used just as a loader with a little weight on the back.

I have an older case 350b track loader that has a backhoe that sets off that way. Has a quick connect and backhoe sets off in 5 minutes. It needs an all new undercarriage and I am thinking I would be better off getting the ck for less than a new undercarraige.

Besides the 35ob, I also have a case 450c dozer. I really like the case equipment because it is easy to work on and there are all kinds of parts options.

They were ahead of their time on hydra static turning instead of turning clutches.

The 350 is different because it just uses individual brakes to turn kind of lIke tractors, so when you turn it locks up one side and the other speeds up twice as fast through the differential.

4K is a steal !! Hoses alone are big bucks. You need to grab that one ! I actually prefer the 4 lever style hoes, I grew up using the old spool setups and like they say, hard to teach old dogs new tricks. Shoot a few pics and post 'em up.

Thats the next thing Im looking out for is an old used farm hoe. Ive been mooching my neighbors old hoe when I needone, but need to break down and get my own in the next few years. If a person needs to bury a dead cow or whatever else is sooooo handy to have an older model used hoe around.

About this time last year I dug up my old propane tank with Trent's hoe. That thing had been in the ground since the 50s.
