We're having a decent season here in the Nw,,, Just logged my 14th day at Baker.

The 34th Annual Legendary Banked Slalom is this weekend, Fri-Sat-Sun February 7-9! We've been busy setting the gates on the course, filleting the salmon, stacking up the firewood, chilling the beverages and just generally getting stoked to put on the 2020 edition of the longest-running snowboard competition in the world!

Right on.. He’s an old local pro who rode for Winterstick and moved to Bellingham back in the day and lived with Tex and Farm and did some of the first films from Alaska.. I want to say he podium’d (might have won) LBS back 10-15 years ago. He’s a Baker regular. He’s a few years older than me and I really looked up to him and tried to steal his style. We grew up on tow ropes, so for him to go pro back in the 90’s was a huge deal around here lol

I have an OG LIB Litegator Shalom (the board with the shalom skis graphic in corner) that I’ve been waiting years to bring to Baker!

Looks like a Kemper Rampage or a freestyle??

Did you see they're selling Kempers again with the OG graphics and shapes?

2/6/2020 4:33pm
Yep, Kemper Freestyle 165. I think it was from 1990. Sorels, home made pants, neon......good times!

Those new Kempers are cool. I wonder what factory is producing them?

They're made in China by GP87, which is from what I've read a really good manufacturer of other well reviewed brands. So, take that for what it's worth lol.

My buddy had that Kemper Freestyle 165, and I spent a lot of time on it. I had a Gnu Antigravity with some really horrible bindings. I remember wishing I had the third upper binding strap because that was next level haha

I have a Kemper Flight in my basement, and it's crazy how heavy those boards are.. It's almost unimaginable that we used to ride them.

Yeah, the ski boot buckle bindings were always a crap-shoot. You'd hit a jump and hope they stayed on.

I had this model, I can remember moving my front foot mounting point ahead like 4 inches from where it was supposed to be, 24", 0', 0' back in the day, and running ski boot liners in my Sorel boots.

If you didn't take off your highbacks though, were you really that hardcore? Haha.
If you didn’t cut 4” off your tips and high backs and run double tounges, get off the mountain Jerry

and cut down nose and tail, also need to mention pants that were 7 sizes too large and a chain wallet.

I never did cut my highbacks, I'm luck enough to only have size 10 feet so I could always lay down some high lean angle carves without toe or heel drag.

Definitely gotta add the tindy into my runs!!we finally got a few storms north of me in VT honestly had one of the most epic powder days of my life at smugglers notch last week...this year I’ve been riding a Lobster Sender which is great for big jumps, but the real secret to the thing is the 3BT technology which made powder riding UNREAL for a park board
