Sirius XM Customer Service

Just thought I’d share a story of caution on my dealings with Sirius XM.

I purchased a new truck on September 18, 2017 and got 3 months of free XM with it. I never used it once in the 4 months I’ve had the truck. I magically got a bill for $58.94 today stating I agreed to a 6 month discount package. I proceeded to call and speak with a csr who I could barely understand. I then got hung up on after I stated my name and address to 3 people. So I call back and go through the same jargin again. This csr tells me I verbally committed to extending my service, which I’ve never used once, on October 17th. A Sirius XM rep called me on October 17th and proceeded to hard sell me and badger me about extending service and taking a deal. I declined and thought that was the end of this, until today. The last CSR I spoke with told me she cancelled my 6 month contract but I still had to pay $10.12 for the service since December 16th up until today. We proceeded to argue about this balance and I stated I would not pay it and she claimed she would send it to collections before she hung up on me. What a crappy company and horrible customer service! Glad I never listened to your crap in the first place!

Getting your XM turned off is the most miserable experience ever. I would never, ever have a XM account in a vehicle ever again. It took me months to get them to close an account and cease billing me.

Yeah I’m pissed. I had never spoken with someone in that manner over the phone but she was persistent and wouldn’t help. She kept saying I’m gonna send you and bill. I told her to save the paper because I’m not paying it and it will go in the trash. What a joke of a company. All the while I’m speaking with the csr the background noise is like she’s sitting in the middle of a gym.

Just out of curiosity, you said they charged you...

How exactly did they get your credit-card number?

Or do you mean they sent you an invoice wanting you to pay?

When I bought a new vehicle that had XM radio, after the initial 3 months free it turned off. I then proceeded to receive a lot of calls from XM, and a ton of invoices, marketing materials, sales junk in the mail.

Never had to call them to cancel anything.

In my situation my wife actually subscribed after the trial in her 2012 Camry. But they kept renewing it even when I called and insisted that they turn that off. So the last time they did it, I did like Jmicmoto13 did, I called and chewed ass telling them I had called a full year prior, documented who I talked to and time/date, and TOLD them to no auto-renew and we wanted it to expire and be turned off. Even then they balked and put me on hold and "had to check with a supervisor" and all that shit. And after a few months of that kinda stuff, they finally turned off the service, but the billing dept still sent me a past due fee. A fee for a bill that didnt exist! It took me several more weeks on the phone to get them to cancel/purge that past due bill from their records. Ugh, it was a nightmare. I guess I coulda just said 'fuckem' on the past due thing, but didnt know if that would come back to haunt me somehow so I made it a point to ensure there was no more trace of me on thier records.

Never again. Radio and MP3's are free.

Sent me an invoice to pay saying I verbally agreed to the contract. I told her she has no way to charge me so I will just throw the invoices in the trash. Still didn’t enjoy arguing with an Indian lady about a bogus bill.

i have the basic package and use the hell out of it, but yeah, their customer service is the fuckin' worst.

No, after enough persistence they agreed that there should not have been any past due bill and got it zero'd out.

All the stories I've heard about them, jive with everything in this thread. I'll never subscribe to that service. The Pete came with a Sirius radio, never even considered calling them.

I jumped on the band wagon of satellite radio when Howard left terrestrial. I had it for a few years but kind of lost interest in it like cable. A bunch of nonsense channels I couldn’t care less about, and the rock channels I did listen to never played what I am into.

I couldn’t justify the price hikes every year either. I have to say canceling the service was one the most miserable experiences of my life. Every other service on the planet you can cancel over the Internet, but not these guys. You have to call, go through the menus, then speak with someone and when you say I want to cancel, they transfer you to the “specialist.”

This person did everything they could and tried all angles to prevent me from canceling. They wound up with we’ll give you six months free, and 6 months for like $5. I said you could always give me that price, you ripped me off all these years.

It devolved into me just repeating “I want to cancel” no matter what they said. Probably 20 times or better. That’s all I said.

Finally got the point. They mailed me stuff for a long time but finally gave up. Thank god!

I've had it since the beginning when they where separate companies and Howard Stern wasn't there. I really like it and listen everyday while driving. They auto renew using my CC number. It's in December each year, so I call Dec 1st and get one of their "deals" that's always cheaper than the auto renew price.
I've never had any issues with customer service.
My wife got a new car this summer and when the trial ended, they called a few times and I received junk mail, but that was it. They cancelled automatically.
for sure if you cancel, or threaten to, you can get a similar deal to what the rapper from ohio said above me.

Yep, and with me, being in tactical jets for 35+ years, I have a heck of a time understanding anything they say to me. It's not just the accent, but the background noise voids any chance of understanding anything said by the person on the other end.

Just extended my new trucks for 6 months at $39 Canadian.

What I find weird is how often I lose a signal downtown, and there are only a few large buildings (6-9 stories) in our little city of about 50,000.

Does it even work in big cities?

I think they have me now though even though I only listen to one station.

If you guys cancel but they keep sending you junk mail and bogus bills, use their return envelopes to send them all your other junk mail.

I work in Atlanta and I've only ever found one spot where I've lost signal and it's in an area where there's no tall buildings, but a huge cell tower. For about 1,000 feet down that stretch of road there's no signal. Get past that, then boom, back to crystal clear music.

Jumped into a company truck today, first time in 29 years. Company has Sirius XM in their iron. Hey, I can listen for free.

I get it for about $3-5/mo. Cancel the day before. Wait a few weeks they call and offer me 6 months for $39.99. I say no. They offer 29.99. I say no. They offer 19.99. I take it. They usually hang up after 19.99. That’s bottom of the barrel for 6 months....

I like patriotxm, turbo and octane.

I used to do this for credit card companies. They stopped sending me return envelopes. Lol! Put rocks in it. Weigh it down heavy.

Weird thing is they just sent me a renewal offer and it has 2 options, 6 months for $30 or 1 year for $100. I'm going to call and say "why can't you give me a year for $60 if you can give me half a year for $30? wtf haha

Getting rid of XM years ago was as painful as cancelling Direct TV. I think maybe that's what they're counting on, people will just give up.
