Not that ya all will be much interested but us South Africans are sliding back into the dark ages..

The state owned enterprise, Eskom which produces our electricity cannot keep up with demand due to sabotage, thieft of cables, poor maintenance, over staffed with under qualified workforce, continuous strikes, corruption, not enough coal, the coal is wet, the diesel is being stolen, not enough funds to purchase enough coal and diesel....the list goes on..

We have been hit with Stage 6 load shedding.

Eskom announced in the early hours on Sunday morning that it had to urgently implement Stage 6 load shedding for the second time this year.

This was after one generation unit each at Kusile and Kriel power stations tripped.

It previously escalated from Stage 4 to 5 on Saturday morning after unit each at Kusile, Arnot and Camden, as well as two units at Duvha Power Station tripped.

The power utility did not say how long Stage 6 would last. It is expected to host a briefing at 10:00 on Sunday to update the public on the power crisis.

We barbeque alot here.......Whistling

If you have any extra room in your freezers, pack it full of frozen waterbottles. This'll help keep it cold when the powers out.

So glad that the house we bought last year came fully wired to hook up a back up generator, but that's only as good as how much fuel you can keep on hand.

Truth on the fuel. Our outage from Fiona last week (some still don't have power back yet now on day 12) saw a whole bunch of proud new big generator users all smiles the first day or two. But then reality set in when they had to get in line for hours with their gas jug collection to get more fuel. After they drove for an hour to find a gas station that even had power & could pump. Same thing happened after Dorian three years ago. That gets expensive and a big time drag in a long outage. Most pay no heed to how many watts they really need in an outage - they just go get a big cheap gennie & think they're set. Get an adequately sized inverter generator and use it right and you can go a whole week on two or three jugs.
