I always thought that trucks just automatically developed that within 2 months of ownership! Or maybe that's just my trucks.....

Sometimes stupid leaves a mark. At least it didn't come thru the back window.

All a friend recently said "It's impossible for a man to tie something down without saying, That ain't going anywhere"

My wife calls you guys the Yahoos.

I was hungry and pissed off. Now I got a truck with a dented up bed/cab and a motor with a damaged wiring harness. Being stupid leaves a big mark lol

Aplman what are you doing to your trucks?? I ain't ever torn up a bed like this. Seen some company trucks like that but wasnt my fault.

Holy crap that sucks!

Reminds me - a month after I got my new Toyota Tundra I was in a big hurry and unhooked our boat (had the wakeboard tower folded forward) without a wheel chuck and the boat rolled forward and the wakeboard tower smashed into my tailgate..fucking sick to my stomach!

|

10/14/2018 1:44 PM

Now you can use the ratchets straps to pull the bed straight .

I think I'm gonna tie a rope to a tree and see if itll pull out. Mostly just want it off the cab, I dont mind a bit extra bed space grin
For now I stuff some paper between so the paint wont get torn up. Cab is dented though and idk how I'm gonna fix that.

I like the tree idea , i ratchet strapped my 450 to a tree and used a giant pipe wrench to straighten the sub frame. I bet you could pull it back far enough to not rub using your idea.

Do you have any tie down hooks in the rear corners of the bed? Get a come along and hook on there. Find a suitable hook of some sort to put over the front panel and pull it back in place.

Stretched metal cannot reform back into place, right? That’s your gig not mine so just asking. Sorry for your bent up truck, Colintrax. That’s just a badge of honor for a work vehicle.

Don't feel to bad. I was helping my buddy unhook his gooseneck and I drove the truck away with the tailgate still up.

Folded the tailgate up like a lawn chair...

I just put heavy stuff up against the cab to start with. It can be a hassle loading and unloading but it keeps that from happening. BTW, there is a nice little concave spot there now because I didn't practice what I am preaching once.
The other problem is a scratched up tailgate because the flat lumber carts at Home Depot slide right under there.....until you transfer the load from the cart to the bed. Then it doesn't slide right under there.

Yeah its got tie down hooks in the back corners, but what makes those better than a tree? I dont have a come along so I'd have to use a ratchet strap for that, idk if I got the arms for that lol

did this with my friend's banshee like 15 years ago. everything was going smooth until someone cut me off and i had to slam my brakes, the front bumper of the banshee smashed out my rear window and caved in my bed rail. a quad has not ridden in the back of a peelout vehicle since. thank God i didn't spill my beer

A quad in the back of your truck ? Was this during your "experimental " days?

|

This reminds me of the time I drove 15 miles home from my buddy's house without latching the trailer tongue to the ball. It was just resting on the ball the whole time.
When I started unloading the bike off the back of the trailer, the rearward weight bias tilted the trailer up like a see-saw, but the safety chain caught it. I fell off the trailer with my bike and the trailer hitch slammed forward into my tailgate, then zig-zagged down it, crumpling and scratching the whole way until it rested on the bumper again. Dang.

Braaapin' aint easy.

Who hasn't walked out of a Depeche Mode concert and suddenly wondered what it would be like to ride a quad?

|

10/15/2018 2:25 PM

I watched my buddy do that to his truck loading his dirt bike. smile

I have had that happen a time or two. Tip for hauling engines, sit the oil pan in an old tire, it will keep that from happening
