The Shop
Right now it was all I had so I gotta figure something out this weekend but I’m not opposed to keeping it and trying to get it going again. It actually didn’t seize upon further inspection, it’ll crank and hit just won’t fire. Was running 60mph or so and power fell off abruptly and the temp gauge shot up. Smelled like cooked oil. Not sure, didn’t have any major issues leading up to that.
I put a lot of work into it trying to keep it going and roadworthy, just did timing belt, new battery and alternator, new tires, rebuilt all the wear items in the front end, new plugs and wires.
272,000 is very commendable
Do your research first. Might be a different flywheel/clutch. Everything else ought to be the same.
Wouldn’t you know it shit out with a plumb full tank of gas
Pit Row
One of these days I will get around to replacing the front ball joints-the squeak is starting to annoy me.
It had a salvage title, and had gotten rear ended, and the paint was peeling. It had under 100k miles when I got it.
I was driving it to do some work and it started knocking about halfway there. I turned around and it got me home.
Bought a low mile salvage engine and paid a buddy to stick it in, plus a clutch while motor was out.
About $800.
Still running. Tow bared it 1000 miles to texas. Drove it home, and it even ran TX interstate speeds of 85-90 mph. Towed it 600 miles to Michigan helping a friend move, and drove it home on the crappies interstates in the country.
Still running strong.
Heater control doesn't work.
Engine light is on. Has been for 50k miles
Radio circuit has a parasitic drain.
Had to unplug fuse on interior light because the cab got tweaked when it got rear ended and the door switch won't shut off.
But I would hop in it and drive it anywhere right now
