Are you sitting down?

The Los Angeles Angels shocked the baseball world Thursday morning, reaching agreement with free-agent first baseman Albert Pujols on a 10-year contract that will be worth between $250 million and $260 million, according to a major league source.

And the Angels might not be finished yet.

They remain the front-runner to sign free-agent left-hander C.J. Wilson, who is “more likely than not” to reach a five-year deal with Los Angeles, another source said.

The Cardinals and a third, unspecified club also bid for Pujols. The Angels did not enter the sweepstakes until late Tuesday night. Approximately 36 hours later, they signed one of the great hitters in major league history.

Pujols, 31, will receive a full no-trade clause — something the Miami Marlins did not offer before their pursuit of him ended on Wednesday. His contract likely will be the second-highest in major league history, behind Alex Rodriguez’s 10-year, $275 million deal.

over-paid and over-priced. Price Fielder and Ryan Howard can do just as much for a team at 1st base.

What a waste of money. He's going to decline year after year.

Howard and Fielder can't do what Albert can, he is in a different class.

PS- Howard will earn 400k less than Albert per season with RAPIDLY declining numbers, his deal was widely known in baseball as a big overpayment (5 yrs/$125mm). He is 32.

Prince will get similar money.

Just as all ballplayers do after the age of 27, but when you start with a career 1.037 OPS there's a long way to decline to average.

Impacts on ticket sales, TV deals, and merch, will pay for his deal well before his decline. The Angels could DFA him with years remaining and will come out ahead.

We all know that professional athletes are overpaid...that argument is tired...

Relative to his production and marketing potential...it is probably a good deal for all parties.

Albert is only half way through his career and is already a 1st ballot hall of famer. He is the best hitter in baseball right now, and possibly ever. His "down" year last year was better than most pro baseball players can ever dream of having.

I don't see Prince getting similar money...

Howard ended the season with a torn achiles...how his body recovers from that will have a large impact on his future value.

the difference is that Howard and the Phillies will win another WS before Pujols and the Angels will even win an AL pennant.

explain to me how the fuck the Angels are supposed to get through the Rangers, Yankees, Sox, Rays and Tigers to win a pennant dumbass?

the Phils just picked up Papelbon and have the sickest pitching rotation in baseball, along with the aforementioned Ryan Howard, Chase Utley and Shane Victorino.

what the fuck do the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have besides a fucked up name and Mike Scosia.

Back to your original claim.

Howard has a popped achillies, Fielder is fat and has never put up numbers near Alberts WORST year and they will all make virtually the same annual salary.

You have no fucking clue bro. I'll own your ass all day long, come at me.

hey earth to dumb motherfucker...the Prince talk was yesterday, today's topic was/is (at least on my part) which team would win a WS first Howard's Phillies or Pujols' Angels...not if Howard was better than Pujols. note, not once did I ever say that Prince Fielder or Ryan Howard was better than Albert Pujols, but try again.

best part is I dont even like baseball, but can tell you are a big fan of Los Angeles second team, you a big Clippers fan as well?

"come at me bro"...with shit that is actually relevant. 9:30pst...sick from school today?
