My go-to is from Beverly International. I have heard that it is "cleaner" than the other brands, but idk. I have no complaints with it.

Another vote for Optimum Nutrition. Just ordered more strawberry.

Another vote for optimum nutrition. If you are a Costco member stock up in January. They have gone on sale the last two years in January for $15 off I believe. I bought the limit of 6 and used about 1 a month.

Another vote for ON Gold Standard. I drink the chocolate. It’s smooth and tastes good. It has a watered down chocolate milk taste. Costco is the place to buy it as mentioned above.

How much are you guys paying at Costco? I checked online and it’s showing $57.99, which is roughly the same as Amazon($55). However I use the “subscribe and save” on Amazon which unlocks a 15% discount. The strawberry I just ordered ended up being $47. I’ll look into the Costco sale during January mentioned above though.

EDIT: Just noticed that price in the pic above was actually for the ON. I’m an idiot. lol Is that in-store only?

I think it might fluctuate. When it is on sale it’s $42 I believe so $15 off the $57 price.

Also check allstarhealth.com. By far the cheapest online place I have found. Flat rate shipping of $5.95 or free over $100. They ship quickly, I placed an order at 830am this morning and they shipped today already. Being close to SoCal I’ll have it tomorrow.

I personally like the Extreme Milk Chocolate one. My brother likes the Chocolate Peanut Butter one.

I didn't particularly like the Double Rich Chocolate one.

If your serious about muscle and strength gains don't overlook taking creatine monohydrate as well as glutamine along with the whey. Muscle Pharm glutamine and Optimal Nutrition creatine monohydrate. Glutamine helps keep your muscles from going into a catabolic state while sleeping. Also casein protein is slower digesting so another good option to take before you go to sleep. Once again this is what worked for me.

Go to nutraplanet.com and buy whatever flavour you prefer in the for sale section. Just look for low carb and fat contents. Brand is not important. It`s not worth buying expensive protein powder. Spend the saved money on quality food instead.

Maverick: Did you get my last PM a couple of weeks ago?

Anything that is whey and no sugar. Avoid soy. Anything plant based is much harder for your body to convert into muscle. (We are animals, and animal protein is much easier to convert to our muscles. Plants are completely different protein and requires more work for your body to convert it into muscle). But honestly meat/ fish/ eggs are better than whey powder.

One 38 gram egg is only 6 grams of protein and about 77 calories.
One 34 gram scoop of whey protein is 24 grams of protein and about 120 calories. If he's after protein he would have to eat four eggs to match a scoop of whey powder. Whey protein is a fast digesting protein. If he was taking a mass gainer then not so much as its got a lot of fillers. Whey is a protein supplement. If he looking for gains and maximizing protein intake that would require purchasing a lot of meat.
Five ounces of cooked salmon contains around 30 grams of protein. It takes forever for your body to absorb. Figure of the op is looking to maximize muscle growth, he should consume around .8 grams of protein per pound of his body weight. If he is 180 then he would need 144 grams of protein.
When I was lifting, I weighed 240. I averaged 200 grams of protein intake per day. Its expensive buying that much meat. Salmon is over $20 per pound. I supplemented it by salmon fishing, consuming eggs, and taking whey and casein, in combination with bcaas, creatine, and glutamine. Things that make your body work harder to digest food will kickstart your metabolism. Oatmeal, boiled eggs and a protein shake in the morning with a glass of water. I was going for size and strength over anything else. The biggest part of it was recovery. Rest. Lots of rest. To the op. Figure your goals out. Then do a lot of research. Follow a program that works for you and is something you can stick with. For myself I lift 7 months, eat strict then take off five months while eating food I went without. Some might say why not just eat right all the time? Because, it doesn't work for me.

Picked up some of the recommended protein this morning in chocolate milk. Had my first try just now and it Doesn’t taste to bad actually. They didn’t have the peanut butter flavor you recommend Mav. I have been taking these for about a month as well. See how my progress goes from here. Thanks for the posts boys

Hey Joe, you have an iPhone or Android? Came across a nice little app called Fitbod, but it’s only for iPhone right now. I’ve been using it for a few weeks, and find it really handy. It started out pretty easy, but once you adjust the recommended weights to what you’re actually comfortable doing it gets much better. Lately it’s been kicking my ass. lol

Thanks for the tip, I’ll check it out. I’ve came a long way but still not where I want to be. I cardio on the treadmill on average 7 miles a day plus hit the weights. (I did over 60miles last week) which is my best week yet. I actually think all the cardio is hurting my muscle development but kind of find it addicting.

If you want a clean protein brand try Promix or Levels Performance Provisions unflavored protein.

Too much cardio will inhibit some muscle growth. If your going for size cut back on the cardio. Just give yourself time to recover regardless.
