Pressure washers

I need a lightweight portable pressure washer for the track and washing bikes at home. I have the big Stihl RB800 for pressure washing the house and the toy hauler but it's super heavy and cumbersome. It's great for the big jobs but it's overkill for bikes.

Looking for gas powered, lightweight and durable. Also, I would like to stick with a Honda or Yamaha engine.

As has been kind of hashed over here before, you might want to watch out for washers that need a pressurized feed. Vs those that can pull from a tank ok. Some do, some don't, and it's not always obvious until you hook it up and try it. Some manuals have some fine print about needing the inlet hooked up to a house (pressurized) water supply. The last one I got was a Kohler powered Simonize . Ended up having to buy a second little 1" pump to feed it. Higher priced more capable ones likely won't have that issue. On looking back, I would likely have gotten a Milwaukee M18 cordless pump to feed instead of the one I got.

But there are all kinds of options out there.

Does this one work without being hooked up to pressurized water?
I don't know. You may need to check with the Ryobi spec page because I have never used anything other than a city water spigot.

Highly recommend springing for one with e-start if possible. There’s still a recoil starter for backup, but e-start is so nice, especially on cooler days when it may take a few pulls before it fires. You can just press a button until it starts up. I have a Ryobi one with e-start and Honda engine, but looks like it’s been discontinued in lieu of one that takes their 18V tool batteries.

This may be worth looking into, I’m kicking around the idea of getting one. 600psi, not sure if that’s enough, but super portable. https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI-ONE-HP-18V-Brushless-EZClean-600-PSI-…;

I've been using a 20-Volt 550 PSI, 1.0 GPM Dewalt and a 15 Gallon plastic drum filled with enough water to clean my bike after riding so it doesn't go back into the van dirty. It does the job for what it is and might also be a good option for you.

Just go buy the cheapest one you can get at home depot or any box store . Seriously.

I know you are after a good engine, but the no name brand engine will last longer than the pump. And the pump is gonna be the same between a honda unit and a no name engine until you get up into the expensive commercial stuff (larger, cumbersome that you're trying to get away from).

GO pick up a 300$ one and it'll work for a few years at least. I have one of the ryobi ones with the "idle down" honda engine because it was on sale. Really seems no different than the cheaper ryobi one a friend has without the "Idle down" feature, and dunno who even makes his engine. Pump will take a dump before the engine does and then its not worth fixing.

Like any "home owner" thing these days.

Electric definitely going to be lighter & less cumbersome.

If you decide to go the electric route check out project farm YouTube channel.

Costco and SamsClub always running deals on power washers. Electric power washers will top out around 2000 PSI. The gas powered ones will be around 4500 PSI.

Next power washer I get will be electric. My gas one is still going after 15 years. I haven’t even checked the oil in the damn thing. I do hate having to go get gas for it though. It can be a pain in the ass ariund the house when you just want to plug in and start washing.

Oops, can’t start my project, gotta go into town and get a gallon of gas. Ugh.
