Pot heads have a new ally.....

Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson says marijuana should be legalized and treated like alcohol because the government's war on drugs has failed.

The outspoken evangelical Christian and host of "The 700 Club" on the Virginia Beach-based Christian Broadcasting Network he founded said the war on drugs is costing taxpayers billions of dollars. He said people should not be sent to prison for marijuana possession.

The 81-year-old first became a self-proclaimed "hero of the hippie culture" in 2010 when called for ending mandatory prison sentences for marijuana possession convictions.

"I just think it's shocking how many of these young people wind up in prison and they get turned into hardcore criminals because they had a possession of a very small amount of a controlled substance," Robertson said on his show March 1. "The whole thing is crazy. We've said, 'Well, we're conservatives, we're tough on crime.' That's baloney."

Drunks run stop signs, pot heads wait for them to turn green.

Honestly, I'd much rather be around someone under the influence of marijuana then alcohol.

Yes he is. I guess that proves that, if you say enough words in your life, the law of averages has to ensure that a few of them are actually correct.

I can't imagine what he's smokin. If you want to see what legalizing marijuana will do, just go to Amsterdam. Yeah, it costs money to police things, but that's just the way it is. He's way off base on this one.

I spent a summer one year touring through Europe on bicycles with a buddy of mine, and spent a week in Amsterdam. We got to know this bartender at a bar called "The Bulldog" in the Red Light District. Talked to him about the accessability of weed and hash, being that he was seeling it to us right over the counter. His main point is that it wasn't the locals abusing the drug but the tourist getting in over their heads, and in a number of cases over dosing. Primary culprits, Americans.

^^^this.

The drug war here is an absolute failure. Drug use starts and stops in the home, not from legislation or regulation. It's funny how the conservatives scream about big government, but they're the first ones to ask for more regulation and enforcement for shit they should be responsible for in their own homes. They seem very afraid, almost like cowards.

I live in Eugene, so everybody smokes pot, except for me I feel like. Doesn't mean I'm used to it tho, it's kind of annoying. Not saying it should be illegal because I find it annoying, but I'm not complaining that it's against the law at the moment.

No one has ever overdosed on marijuana. It can't be done.

From research on drug legalizations for school it's really a double edged sword. It goes down for people buying/some other drug releated things but typically goes up on things such as prostitution.

In my eyes it's usually a wash.

Now you're onto something.
Need to be able to put into a pill that they can sell or else it's evil.

Big Tobacco companies should be lobbying for this, they are in a position to switch from tobacco to weed and make bank.

Not a smoker anymore myself, but I'd imagine cell phones are far more dangerous than pot heads. If we're going to regulate, maybe we should get rid of drinking and cell phones first.

Prostitution should be legalized too. Protect the women (and I guess there are men as well) by legalizing it and turning into a legit industry. Allow the companies to form to employ people in a safe environment. I used to date one lady who was employed as an entertainment dancer. Their form of industry is legal. The company she works for provides medical insurance and physical protection for the girls. And, she trucks in a lot of money doing it.

Those who argue it will open up the industry to far more girls, and they don't want their girls to do it, then that starts in the home. Take responsibility for how your kids turn out. It shouldn't be the government's job.

Hence why we it's across America have started to make it illegal to drive and use a phone.
