I played once in Reno on a snowboard trip. Never played. Some wasted French guy sat down next to me and was throwing down thousands of dollars a hand. After a few hands he wanted to fight me saying I kept taking his cards or some shit.

We used to play pretty seriously years ago. All time money winner in my league for over a decade. Paid all my bills for many years and expanded some of the programs we fund. We had a reunion last year and I heard mumbles from a few guests asking who the guy to beat was and I was the only answer which was always a cool feeling to know you have the room on tilt before it even started. I won the game fairly easily and then after people asked if anyone wanted another game. All said no until I said I could not make it...then they all said yes. Its like a catch for me and its not only poker. Winning too much pisses a lot of people off especially with money and its a huge catch to success. I love the game and read quite a few thousand plus page books on the game multiple times over. My friends joke and say I could win a tournament without ever seeing my cards. Eh maybe. lol
I have done well in some tournaments in Vegas and on cruises but actually my wife has finished better than me in every one in Vegas but I left the casinos with the most money every time and it paid for our whole trip at the least everytime and we aren't frugal by any stretch while in Vegas.
Good times. It has always been good to me. I definitely miss it.

When ever I lose a hundred buck gambling I think "well there was a new rear tire".

Yes I know it's entertainment but still eats at me.

I played a few nights a week in a high stakes Omaha game (blinds $5, $10, $25 on the button) here in Dallas for about seven years. I ended up quitting when I realized that I didn't care on the nights I won and I was pissed on the nights I lost.

Now I play on PokerStars, net (not real money site) while watching television. I am up $1.9 billion if anyone needs a loan. Little looser game when not for real money.

I play micro sit and go tourneys on PokerStars for a hobby . Usually play 45 player , turbo pace , which takes about 90 minutes to get to heads up . I’m up about 80 bucks in the past six years . 😁

Man, that seems to be the case with so many hobbies after time! And it reminds me a lot of the top MX guys over the years.. No more happiness, it ends up just being disappointment or relief.

Fortunately, I’ve always made money ($100-$300) playing the 1-3 tables.

Tournaments are a different story. I’ve won one at Barona once, got my ass kicked every other one I’ve entered even with rebuys.

Nowadays, I’ll just play with friends/coworkers for fun with some brews. We usually do $10 to start and $1 buy back until final 3. Winner take all. Playing with friends like has ruined casinos for me, although last time I went my ex dragged me along and came up a few hundred bucks playing blackjack and war.

I hate casinos and tend to avoid now.

Like someone else here said, that $100 you lose is a fresh rear tire or pail of race gas for the bike 👍

The last tournament I played I was 1 spot away from a payout position. I had Kings Full and got rocked by quad 3's, pretty much ending my night. So that was a fun one lol

A group of 7-8 of us play live 1/2 cash games a couple nights a week, its casual and a good way to bring in an extra couple hundred bucks every week.

Got to love the .1% chance of Quads over a Full House.

Former team owner and Vital member Paul Lindsey told me a story about playing the WSOP Main Event. He was about four spots away from the money. Paul's plan was to just fold until the money and get a guaranteed $20,000 (double his buy-in). Paul is last to act and looks down at pocket Kings. He decides to push all-in to scoop up the blinds. He gets snapped called by one of the blinds who flips over pocket Aces. Not a happy camper.

Oh yeah.. I've had my share of AA cracked as well.

Just this past Friday - Some guy comes by on his way home from another casino where they already gave him 6 (SIX) W2s for the day.. I get pocket Aces, he calls me all the way through with 4,2. Hits a 4 on the flop and a 2 on the river cracking my Aces. Not much you can do in these situations other than shake your head and move on. These types of players lose in the long run and we have to stay reminded of that. Poker is a cruel hearted b****
