Im completely locked out of my paypal account.
Every time I try to log in, I do so from usually a different country, so it triggers some sort of security response from paypal and it asks for additional information.
It keeps asking me for the full account number of some old bank checking account that I used to have linked to my paypal account. Who the fuck has that stuff memorized? Much less an a account that has been closed for almost 2 years.
I then received a email regarding the suspicious activity and that I should log in and go to the "resolution center" and let paypal know that their is nothing wrong with my account and then they will lift the extra security measures.
That would be easy to do if I could actually LOG IN TO THE ACCOUNT in order to gain access to the resolution center!
Emailing paypal's customer service center simply gets an automated response back that tries to handle my issue based on a generic login-how too.
Their is absolutely no way to get ahold of paypal by email. After reading around on the net for help, this was about all I found, a quote in a letter from PayPal to it's shareholders...
"...good customer service costs money and we are not prepared to make the required investments in customer service."
Any suggestions? There is no way I can get that old account number and until I do, logging in is not an option. I have to get ahold of someone at paypal somehow.

My son had an issue with a Paypal account, called them up and they took care of it.
Very nice folks too.

Why do you think your bank gave you the money back?
They certainly wouldn't have if it was Paypal's fault.
The Shop
The one issue I did have with anything related to this kind of thing is having my credit card hacked. Still have no idea how it happened (card rarely leaves my wallet) - but it wasn't too long after I got a new chipped replacement card, and my kids got a Playstation account. I got a call from my bank on a Monday, asking if I had been in Toronto over the weekend (no) - things went from there. The bank straightened everything out, and reversed the fraudulent charges (mostly to cell phone companies, into the 4 figures). They made one screw up, in that they reversed too many charges - a couple were good ones I made through Paypal. I had some unhappy guys I paid through Paypal for a while, but they made it right eventually. Bank dealt directly with Paypal, I had no contact with them myself.
Big thing is never respond to emails that seem to be from them.
Your account did not get hacked. They sent the scammer their password and account number in a scam email.
Nothing PP can do about people ding stupid things. I have done it my self but as soon as I hit send ....I realized what I had just done and imediatly went and changed my password.
