How are you using guitar rig? As an input FX or a track FX? Also are you using pre sets? I'm working on some new stuff and I need a different guitar sound than I'm getting from my amp.

I use it as an input effect I guess. The button that you push on the track effect opens a window for all effects, Guitar Rig 5 being one of them. So when it opens it looks no different than as using it as a stand alone if that makes sense.

I use both factory and custom presets. Honestly I could get lost for days coming up with yet another tone. I'm sure you understand that.
I also have the Guitar Rig interface which they don't even make anymore. It is a really robust unit.

There are 2 effects buttons but you have set the record button to see the input effects button.

If you click the record button on that track, the input fx window should show up just to the right.

I use this mostly with the ReaTune for tuning instruments but you can also use it for recording. The downside is that whatever effects you use are permanent. You have to erase the track item if you don't like it.

Hmmm. The biggest advantage I think to using Guitar Rig in Reaper is that the tone or "Rig" is untethered to the recorded track. I guess that's the trade off.

I think it's actually an advantage doing it your way. You can modify the raw signal any way you want. There is really no advantage to doing it with input FX. I just didn't know which way you were doing it. Like I said, I only use it with the tuner. It's very accurate and uses the actual signal insead of vibration. Sometimes the headstock vib tuners don't work that well on bass.

I'm going to play around with G Rig once more. I just have the demo version.
