Due the the rapid rise of infections, deaths and people behaving irresponsibly our president has once again banned booze in South Africa.

We also have a 9pm - 6am curfew wherebt everyone has to be at home.

6 months imprisonment or a fine or both if caught without a mask when one is outside there place of residence.

Africa is a irresponsible continent and I can't see the end of the Virus anytime soon.

Boom, hop a flight to America for vacation. Then stay as long as you want.
I'll be returning to the US for the outdoors. I just hope that we don't see any further lockdowns in 21.

Now is it illegal to consume alcohol or to purchase it ?
It's still legal to comsume alcohol that one has at home. In my case I have a bottle of Jameson, a bottle of Brandy, three bottles of red wine and about 15 beers and when that runs out I'm f##ked.

Obviously the black market will thrive, the last time booze was banned a $20 bottle of Whiskey would sell underground for $180.

Sounds like a good time to start brewing your own beer.

Maybe I live a boring life, but if alcohol disappeared from the states tomorrow I could really care less.

You must be a recovering alcoholic...as you associate “boring” with “not drinking alcohol”. As if the only possible reason for drinking alcohol is to not be boring (yes sometimes it is)..

Some people do enjoy the taste of a good drink or beer and are able to control themselves..but clearly not in New Zealand! Laughing

Former obese person: Maybe I live a boring life, but if McDonald’s disappeared from the states tomorrow I could really care less..

Good for you, but alcohol abuse is bad right now nationwide. don’t know stats of boomslang. But withdrawal won’t help the country.

It is nice to enjoy a cold beer after one has mowed the lawn here in Summer. I'm a social drinker and I'm sorry if that offends you.

When Colorado went on lockdown the governor said the liquor stores and pot shops were not essential and had to close, it lasted 2 hours before he changed his tune. money as in taxes is far more important than safety LaughingLaughing

The last lockdown and liquor ban almost destroyed the economy and like you mentioned, the loss in Taxes. Furthermore, the liqour industry has indicated a loss of jobs for 250 000 people.

Nope, never.been an alcoholic. Not even close, unless about 5 drinks a year qualifies

And i am certainly not advocating for prohibition or keeping somebody from having a beer.

Also am not from new zealand. I live in NE TN.

Just saying not everybody is going to riot or curl up in a fetal position because they can't get alcohol.

If alcohol is causing so many fights and injuries requiring medical care that a government feels they need to ban alcohol to keep the medical care network from being overwhelmed, then maybe it isn't the worst thing in the world.

It’s very telling that the government in the US let the liquor stores stay open while fitness centers were forced to close. Both are typically small businesses in the non-essential sector. Even outdoor fitness centers operating in the direct sunlight, with scientifically pronounced zero transmission rates, were forced to close.

The core problem here is alcohol abuse. The townships and informal travens are bad. Stabings, beatings, shootings and drunk driving has placed the health system under severe strain...all this whilst trying to deal with Covid.

I have nothing against you for having 5 drinks a year. I was like that once..back in the day when i was racing and focused. Now I've hit 50 and and enjoy a snort with me mates.

Anyone familiar with WildCat Offroad Park in Kentucky? 7800 US-25, East Bernstadt, KY 40729, United States

The owner Terry is a good mate of mine and he is also the owner of Visone RV and owns a Liquor Store. At the end of the Outdoors, my last stop before returning back home to South Africa is to take our motorhome to Terry for a thorough service. He always gives me a sweet campsite at Wildcat. In the evening he will arrive at the campsite and deliver the Whiskey and Ribeye steaks. Wonderfull hospitality and wonderfull Whiskey.

It's about the only time I drink alone. Camped in the Wilderness, barbaque and some drinks. Here's a few pics and its the one thing I look forward to after the outdoors. A quiet place in mother nature.

Yeah, a lot of people do in Wi. It can,t be that hard. If you can,t find barley, just use grass and weeds in your yard. Or maybe rubarb plant, just add 3 lbs of sugar to get rid of the sourness.

Thanks for the kind offer bud but I'll be fine with what I have. If I get desperate then a wealthy mate a block away is well stocked up.

Boomslang, is the ban on alcohol to specifically address issues with a certain group of people over there? Here in the states alcohol hits indigenous peoples particularly hard.
