I dont want to play it down, but from what i've heard coming out of Italy, The youngest person to die from Corona was 81 years old. Obviously thats still a tragedy but it also puts into perspective that the majority of the worlds population is low risk. Italy does have an aging population which could be why its become such a massive issue tehre.

The latest figure i've seen is that the amount of people who have recovered so far is higher then the amount of people currently affected.

Hopefully things start levelling out a bit because the financial implications on this could be seen for years.
81 is the average age, not the youngest age.

I stand corrected if thats the case. It seems the youngest was 65 and the oldest was 95. Again im not downplaying this at all. More talking to the panic that is going on around the globe, largely amongst demographics that you would consider to be low risk in this situation. Average age in Italy is 45.7. Compare that to the US at 38.2 and Australia at 37.2, which would suggest that Italy in general would be more susceptible to a higher mortality rate just on that alone.

Deaths from diseases similar to these always skew towards those with other things working against them.

Since folks keep trying to compare this to the flu, think about those that generally suffer fatalities from that. Most have underlying conditions as well. So while the overall mortality rate for the seasonal flu is 0.1%, it's much lower for healthy young adults.

The lowest demographic I'd seen for the new virus was 0.2%, which makes this virus more dangerous even for the "healthy" folks.

100% agree. The elderly and people with pre existing medical conditions are most at risk always. So it stand to reason that elderly with pre exisiting conditions are the ones who should be worried.

The flu isn't something that i even think about and concern myself about on a daily basis, mainly because my chances of not dying from it are 99.9%. Given your figure my chances of not dying from Covid19 are 99.8%. Those are odds i can handle. If i was in a situation that made more susceptible and at a higher risk i would 100% take more precautions, but the facts are that most people that are freaking out are not in those high risk groups.

On another note , and to the point of what this thread turned into , I guess we can boil it all down to math and physics. Understanding what " exponentially " means would help. I found this video , very strait and to the point on the numbers we should be seeing here in the next few weeks. Hold onto your socks.

Andris , are you saying 133 people died just today? If I read that right , man my thoughts go out to everyone over there. Am just waiting to hear news of it finally slowing down and getting under control , but reports like that seem to be flowing in the opposite direction.

Latvia has 3 infected. They all were vacationing in Italy.
Italy will be hit hard as will any country with a higher age average population.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that authorities believed 60-70% of the population would eventually get infected by the novel coronavirus.

Also take into consideration “every regions different risk factors.”

Can’t really compare regions to regions.....10-15 worse in area A may not be 10-15 times in area B.

Median age is 47 years old. Old Europe will get hit hard. China median age is 37%. That explain difference in death rate. China had 3%. Italy now has 7%.

So population of Deutschland is approx 84 million - say 50% get it - and a 2% lethality rate - soooo nah nah carry the one - about 840,000 deaths. Blink

Let’s revisit this thread in December to reflect on the accumulated effects of this virus and the actual impact it has on the human race.

I really tried to not get labeled a " Conspiracy nutjob " when I made this thread. I was just getting as much info as I could on this whole thing , and I wasn't liking what I was reading about it , and tried my best to just prepare. I was about 7 - 10 days ahead on stocking up on food , water , toiletry stuff , ect . I hope I don't end up getting it , but if I do , then I'll do my best to fight it. I was mainly wanting to prepare for , what the public might do if this stuff started to get bad.

I've always been a firm believer in being some what prepared in case something happens. This virus is one thing , but other things such as storms , earthquakes , floods ect.......those things come along and really bad shit happens. Just look at all the people with no food , water , or anything else that were helpless when Katrina hit the southwest. Being prepared , has never hurt anyone. Hope to god this shit blows over quick.

@Georgie.........Wanted to ask you a question if you pop back in here. If someone gets Covid-19 , and you win the battle with it , are you now immune for a while? Like kind of being immune from the normal Flu after you heal up?

You seem to be celebrating these daily numbers to bolster your panic mode....

How many people died in the world today of other causes?

I think I'm narrowing down on the guy who down votes every single thing I say on here too. Kong isn't " celebrating " anything.......he's giving actual stats from around the world. Like real factual data. And how could anyone argue , disagree or some how feel disgruntled with that? It sounds a lot like the side of the fence in which I abandoned a few years ago. A place where someone can post actual facts / numbers......and then get insulted. Please stop.

I knew I shouldn't have bought them god damned shoes!

From what I’ve seen, he’s given a steady stream of facts without a hint of conspiracy or panic. Much different then your assumptions and provocations looking for arguments.
How many threads have you done that on?

I know! It`s your damn shoes did all this, lol!

I haven`t changed much of my daily rutine lately. Maybe wash my hand even more frequently. Only extra mesure I do is now and then whipe the door knobs with desinfectant. We have my soon to be mother in law living with us. She has huge respiratory problems and had heart surgery recently. She falls in a very vunerable category.
Perhaps I will stop going to gym. My closest gym is a very fancy one with very wealthy well traveled persons attending. Many foreigners. I can`t say I`m all that worried about myself, but if I will bring it home... no bueno.
