I live in a very quiet, safe, good-neighbors kind of neighborhood, in a semi-rural area.

The crime rate is extremely low around here (unless you consider T.P.ing some ones house a crime).

This morning on my way to work, I saw that the police had cordoned off a whole culdesac a block from my house.

Police tape was run across the street from corner to corner, and all the way down, around, and back.

Nobody could get in or out, and there were several squad cars and many officers there to make sure no one tried.

I called my wife to see if she had heard what had happened. She hadn't, so she called a friend at the P.D.

Turns out there was an attempted burglary at 6:00 a.m.

Also turns out the victim is an FBI agent.

Boy, did those guys pick the wrong house!!Woohoo

Was it a home invasion?

I can't imagine all that police presence for a simple break in.

Thats what the police do here. When it is one of there own. Wall to wall cops. When its a normal person 2 hours to get a response. Good ole boys club.

Home invasions is the dumbest form of criminal behavior. Unless you need help stealing a TV, what is the purpose.

Bridal trail behind.

No vehicular access.

They had the police tape up in a way that prevented anyone from getting out of their driveways.

When I drove by, all the cops were outside the tape.

I'm thinking they were waiting for investigators to show up.

I'm sure news will come down the street eventually, and I'll let you guys know the details.

Okay.

It was four teenagers.

Broke into the FBI agent's house, thinking no one was home.

The home owner chased them out, caught one, and shot the shit out of the get away truck when the others tried to flee.

All were arrested.

The FBI agent fired gunshots in your neighborhood? I would be pissed! He's lucky there wasn't any stray bullets.

Lived in YL from 1970 to 1995, crime was non existent. Whole family still lives there. Folks in the same home I grew up in.

Wish I could go back to the days when they had fields, we would ride motorcycles in the hills (now all houses), ride along the drainage ditch (before it became the bike trial from Rose Drive to Mountain View), tie up the horses at McDonalds, play cowboy and indians on horse back in the citrus groves... damn,,, good times... Dymonds practice track near where the Honda dealer is on YL Blvd and La Palma... 4 wheelin in the oil fields...

Have you seen the "you know you are from Yorba Linda if" on facebook? pretty funny stuff, I think YL is the wealthiest zip code in the US.

I moved in just as you were moving out.

It's changed a lot since I've been here.

It must have been amazing in the '70s.

"Have you seen the "you know you are from Yorba Linda if" on facebook?"

Haven't seen it. How do I find it?

I think there were stray bullets, hence all the yellow tape.

I'm trying to figure out why I didn't hear the shots...

Thanks for the list, flyfishnw.

Pretty funny.

I have to contest the one about no Mexicans, though.

A Mexican family moved into my neighborhood a few years back.

Of course, they were probably only allowed in because they're Mormon.Smile

Yep, great place to have grown up. Just visit now, and it is not even remotely what it was. not much different then any other suburbia.

Back in the day, you pretty much knew everybody, today, don't know anybody.
