So this weekend ,my dad and I are going to watch the fight at his camp. He has some neighbors coming over also. I have this projector that I was planning to use for something else but I figured we could hang a sheet up and watch the fight outside . Going from Dish tv receiver (hdmi) output to this older projector ,what is my best /easiest way to make the conection? Thanks.Photo

Can use something like this but what are your plans for Audio? You can't get audio through vga (blue port on your projector)

I am sure you know this but .... whatever you do test it well before the fight.

I will second TX Dirt. Get audio through another outpit.

Can you post a picture of the back of your cable box you are running the HDMI from?

You want something like this to turn that sweet crispy digital output back 20 years into analog to work with that dinosaur of a projector:

I wasn't really what to expect as far as picture quality , it was given to me last year ,the only reason I took it was to project different pictures of whitetail on a target for night shooting.

If that's the satellite box then you are good. Hook up the red/white/yellow RCA cables from the satellite receiver to the corresponding inputs on the projector.

I'm not sure how the built in speaker on projectors sound. If you have any kind of stereo system with the red/white RCA inputs on it, I'd try plugging into that instead of running them to the projector. It will probably sound much better.

I would use the Component outs on the cable box RGB to the Component input on the projector.
You will need a RGB fan out to Component connector cable any AV shop will have several of them.
Component is much better picture quality than composite.
Or get an HDMI adapter cable mentioned by TXDirt.

Audio take the L, R outs to a sound system or something to amplify the signal Boom box, Stereo receiver etc... unless the projector speaker will suffice.

However you may need a scan converter if the scan rates of the two devices are different depending on how old the projector is it may not have a line rate that is compatible with the cable box.

Sony DSC- 1024G is a very good one.
