My girl this Fall up at our place in the Tetons, that's my Dad's Dodge with 300,000 plus. My girl is a 2006 F-150, 4.6, no power anything including the engine. Nothing but front rotors and regular maintenance with 115,000 and counting. But now that I have been spending more time up at my place in Arrowhead, she might have to go for a new 4wd. Sad

My truck is 2010 F-150 FXR. Bought it for 18 grand back in 2014, had 125,000 km have put about 80,000 km on it since I bought it, highway miles mostly.
Runs great, but I have had some issues...

New transfer case.
New upper control arms.
Brakes regularly.
AC does not blow cold, it's the compressor and I can't be bothered to drop two grand to get it fixed but it has a new AC Clutch cause it blew itself apart.

That's it though... considering it was a new. The lifters are a little noisy but hey, I run full synthetic and once it's warmed up the ticking goes away.

Southbound.

I alway know when the neighbor is leaving, their 2011 Toyota has a mean knock to it when accelerating. I expect any day now to hear a loud pop. Then a loud FUK!, DAMMIT SUMBITCH!

Good chance he is running the wrong weight oil. Should have heard the knock when we picked the wife's Landcruiser up after getting an oil change and brakes. I asked if they put the wrong oil in and they kept telling me no. Insurance company paid to put a used engine in it after they decided the shop forgot to put oil back in until after a test drive for the brakes. We ended up parking it and used the money for a down payment to buy a new Avalon at the time. Several months later I decided to get some other opinions, all which were in the 5-7 grand range. While headed back from the last mechanic I stopped and picked up 6 qt's of 5-30 and a new filter. Drained it over the weekend and filled it up first thing Monday morning and it cranked and ran perfect. I was a bit pissed to say the least. Sold it to a friend for his kid back in 2006 and he is still driving it today.
The motors that run 5w oil HATE thicker oil. Even when alot of miles have been ran. Used to put thick oil to quiet them up. That's been a bad idea since the mid 90s

My 2006 Mitsubishi Warrior, did 9k around Europe this summer and didn't miss a beat. It got stuck in second gear a month before I set off, which did make me worry if it would last.

I don't think i'd ever have a normal car again, pickup trucks are so much more useful.

Had such good luck with Fords Bought another one.
This beaut had a Blue-book at 42,800, did a Carfax background check previous owner had all the regular maintenance done through dealer.
Needed a newer vehicle to tow our camper up through the passes. Spent many days camping and mostly seen Fords towing huge Campers. Check into them and many others till this one came up and fits the needs perfectly.

For 6,500 less than what BB and Carfax says it's worth I jumped on it with a 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty.
Still has 25,000 miles on Fords Warranty

I just gave my 02 gmc yukon xl 2500 4wd, bought new away with 200000 to the helper of the guys that installed my security camera system. It went through a few alternators over the years but otherwise was always perfect. I had a 94 suburban and a 99 suburban after that and they were top 5 vehicles i have owned behind my 84 Ford bronco and my current drive a 15 Silverado Duramax that is my favorite. Drives itself and can't even feel my big as tower boat that acts like a huge sail behind other trucks.

That's a good looking truck OM. Trying to figure out what size tire to put on my new Tundra that won't rub. Truck already sits nice and level but may need to go up an inch or two with a larger tire. Hard to believe Toyota puts damn near a highway tire on their premium off raod truck. Sure rides good though!

I've been looking for a clean 2001-2004 gmc/chevy 1500 for the last couple months. Truck prices are insane around md.

Stock wheels are 18's and I like the bigger sidewall on a truck so not planning on going up on wheel size. I think something in the 33.5-34 inch range will fill it out as much as I want. Seeing a lot of 1 - 1.25 inch wheel spacer kits for the stock wheels that seem to be pretty well thought out and makes it look like the wheels belong on the truck. Maybe, just maybe a 2 inch lift all the way around.

I think you Americans use your "trucks" a bit different to us Aussies (we call them utes). I've got almost 400,000 km on my 1994 Nissan Patrol, and I'll probably get another 400,000 before I have to rebuild, unless I fit a turbo. The patrol has a naturally aspirated 4.2L inline six and they go for years, probably the most reliable motor in Aus, depending on who you ask. I love my ute, she goes anywhere I ask her and takes the bikes too!

The EPA and NHTSA protects us from such evil vehicles over here in the US. Not sure how well that would carry a 3400 pound pallet of river rock or a couple pallets of ceramic tile either. Or to haul off the entire contents of a two bedroom townhouse when remodeling. Guess you have some stake side panels for it?

I'm sure it comes in handy while rescuing a baby croc though...Tongue

I thought your diesels over there where pretty big?
I couldn't tell ya cause I don't know what half that shit is Laughing
The mighty patsy has a 3 tonne towing capacity, 85kw at 4000rpm, 264nm at 3200rpm from a non turbo. These numbers pretty much double once a turbo/exhaust is fitted.
I honesty love this ute, compared to other cars on the Aussie market, this thing has some serious tourqe, especially for such an old car!

Sarcasm? Not trying to knock American cars, honestly a 6.5L chev diesel will probably end up in my ute

Just felt like updating this thread with pics of my 1961 Ford F100. I finally got it on the road a couple months back. It's sitting on Crown Victoria front suspension and also uses the entire drive train out of the same car. It gets over speed bumps by airing up the suspension (sorry that's the most common question I get). It's a work in progress, I consider this the "mock up" stage, except I'm also driving it.

My 2004 powerstroke. Before I was rear ended by a dually duramax doing 40 and sandwiched between it and the truck in front of me. The hitch that was in was the only thing that saved it from not being totaled. Hoping to get it back from the body shop next week with a some fresh paint and parts.

I would disagree, I've owned one 2wd and two 4wd rangers and 1 Mazda B4000 4wd and only had issues with the back end getting loose in heavy rain or on snow/ice. Pretty normal for a RWD vehicle without traction control. Never had any issues with the front end feeling unstable. If I could have fit a car seat in the back I would still have the Mazda.
