Does anyone have experience with these trucks? Specifically the 5.0 turbo Cummins? I don't know of anyone that owns one, so I'd love to hear of any thoughts experiences with them...I'm casually in the truck market...and I don't tow enough to warrant a 3/4 or 1 ton truck...but I like the diesel engine, so this seems to fit the bill.

The other truck I'm considering is the F150 with the eco-boost.

I mostly tow a trailer with 2 or 3 bikes on it (behind my 04 VW golf TDI)...but as soon as I get a truck I'll be getting an dual axel enclosed trailer...and then eventually a smallish toy hauler.

Personally I'd really like to take the time to look over the new little diesel Chevy Colorado with the 2.8 Duramax.

Haven't even sat in one and I'm a little bit worried that it would be small, but I'd like to have something that can fit into tighter spaces on the farm than my Silverado does. I've got another Silverado, a 2500HD with 105K on it for hauling larger things, but I haul just enough with my gas Silverado that the little diesel sounds interesting to me.

Just not sure how those smaller cabs are for a guy who's 6'5.......

Titan, I had a Titan in '04 when they first came out. Not the same truck at all, but it was clear that Nissan hadn't done all their homework on that truck. It sounded great, towed OK, but was a little squirrely with a load behind it. Also, the brakes failed at 6,000 miles, 12,000 miles and again at 18,000 miles. See a pattern here? They put the braking system from an Altima on it or something that first year and the heat just warped rotor after rotor.
I hope Nissan has done a better job researching a diesel, but maybe you should wait a year or so?

I tested the trucks at a Nissan drive day , they are really a neat package.

Personally I think the Gas is a better value and 5 yr 100K bumper to bumper is a good selling point.

I will say it feels like I am seeing more of them on the road.

If you plan to tow a lot, do some research on the ecoboost vs a v8. I have found that people say the ecoboost becomes very thirsty when towing a lot. Just my opinion, but the new Nissan trucks are the ugliest truck I've ever seen!

I have a 14 Ecoboost F150. It will pull like crazy - to the tune of 8-12mpg. I do have the 3.31 rear end though, so I lock out 6th gear when I tow most of the time.

Ya, mostly the front. If I look quick, it looks like a sedan or compact car rather than a truck.

Ya that does seem low, I've only had Rams for full size trucks but they have like 3.21, 3.55 or 3.92 and I always get the 3.92 option.

what he said.

my eco pulls like crazy, i had the V8 150 and it was a turd compared to my eco.

Titan, i pulled a 16' trailer with 4 passengers and 8 bikes/gear/gas to Laughlin, NV and back and was around 10-11 mpg. not great but not horrible. i should also mention that i averaged 80-85 mph the entire trip and power on the hills was never an issue. there are also tune programmers available if you're interested in customizable efficiency.

and yeah, the Nissan diesel is almost as ugly as the Ridgeline

Nissan is butt ugly but pretty damn nice and outfitted well. The diesel felt a bit weak in my friends truck but he had it lifted on 35's which may have had a bit of an impact on that. My TuRD Pro Tundra runs great, handles great and has few options. I kind of like it "simple", but it is an awfully expensive truck for what it comes with.

Thanks for the feedback!

They are ugly...but I'm a bit more interested in performance than looks, and thought that diesel looked pretty good.

Thanks again!

I have a neighbor whose house and cars also recently flooded. He has a Titan diesel Pro X whatever on the way. He thinks shit through very thoroughly and I can guarantee he wouldn't be buying it if it wasn't a good vehicle. Like I said, I found them to be well outfitted and optioned for the price. Looking forward to see what you get!

4WD F150s come with either 3.31, 3.55, or 3.73 gears (Except I think 2wd you can get 3.15, and Raptor is 4.10). I wish I would have gotten the 3.73s - oh well.

Other than the ugly front end they are great trucks. You can't go wrong with the Cummins. They do look better when they're lifted a bit as it takes some of the strange proportion out of the front end.

I've had my Titan xd for almost a year and I've put about 20k miles on it. I've not had a single issue with it. I really don't care about mpg, but it's very comparable to all of the 3/4 diesels. My most recent diesel truck was a lml duramax. Stock this truck feels more responsive in normal driving, but once you get past 1/2 throttle, the duramax had a lot more power. It's louder/harsher than the duramax at idle, but much quieter and smoother on the highway. I've towed my brother and i's boat (35' and about 14k) a few times and it handled it fine (as good as my 2500hd). The brakes actually feel better on the Nissan. The Titan replaced a f150, and I was going to get another one, but the tian ended up being cheaper. I got about $17000 off the sticker which was just under $60k. The tian is the most comfortable truck I've ever had. The seat, steering wheel, arm rests fit me perfect. The f150 with the 3.5eb is a better truck for racing around town not towing or hauling weight imo. The Titan has similar capacities to the f150, but there really is no comparison to how they handle a load. The other thing I like is the engine package. I always work on my own stuff and the 5.0 Cummins is very compact and has a ton of room to service the engine.

Oops, I meant to specify those are the ratios on the 1500.
