Ok so I had all my photos of me and my dog on my laptop, about a year ago I could see the laptop was taking a dump so I saved all the photos on an sd card, the computer took a dump and won’t turn on. Good news is I have then on an SD card, nope, it’s lost, nowhere to be found. Is there any way I can recover the photos on my dead computer?

You may be able to pull the HD from the laptop get a SATA to usb cable and see if you can open the drive.

We do this at work daily. Use Tunedlenghth’s sollution or get a 2.5” HDD caddy of eBay.

You can buy a Sata docking station for about $25 at Fry’s.

Hook it to another computer & access your old drive.

Just like the guy’s above said.

That's what I did. Now I use it as a permanent backup device.

But it could still be possible your computer took a dump because your HD is toast, and data could not be recoverable.

There are disaster recovery companies that do this sort of thing for a living. Sometimes they can get the data from a computer that was partially destroyed in a fire. Try a google search for data recovery and see what you get.

If your Hard Drive is a older disk type & dosen't spin up, you can stick it in a baggie & put it in the freezer overnight & it might work.

I've done it several times, I always try to get them up & running before sending out for data recovery.

Recovery can be $$ normally from $1000 to $1500.

The easiest route is to buy a 2.5” HDD enclosure so that you can access your laptop's hd on another computer.

That's unlikely if his computer won't turn on. It would turn on, but wouldn't boot if his hard drive was toast.

Could just be the power supply unit. Has happened to me in the past. Pretty easy to install a new one.
