Never EVER reply to IRS, Computer pop up, you have won etc calls from Indian call centers.
They try to scam you into thinking your computer is hacked and ask you to allow them to use a remote access program in which they take over ALL the info on your computer for ransom, they can also syskey your conputer removing your password and they put in a new one.

Here are some youtube samples from Jim Browning about the subject.

My ex-wife fell for a phone call from them once. She believed them enough to give them her computer info and they took control of her laptop and wanted $300 to unlock it. She is pretty stupid. Haha

It would be fun to let them take a computer ransom and then get a 2nd hacker to hijack the computer from the original hacker. And then let them figure it out amongst themselves

This thread makes me wonder if it isn't time to implement a physical key into computer hardware for a hard reset of passwords/admin priveleges in the event of a hack.

Got a couple of those "your computor has been hacked" in heavily accented calls. Had a little fun.

First one I asked them what kind of computer I had, after all they knew so much about it they would surly know that. Funny how much it thew them off their game. When they couldn't answer I said that it sounded like it might be a scam and they spent 5 minutes trying to cvonvince me they were legit. Funny to hear them scramble.

Another time I acted like was biting then said I had a question. Does your mother know you are a low life, pond scum sucking, piece of shit scammer?

Hopefully you were not using your real phone number...

Bet ya'll never got one like this (an email I got last week):

You can visit the police station but they will not help you.
I dont live in your country. It means nobody can trace me even for 5 weeks.
This is my last warning!

We upload a malware on your devise.
I turned on your web-camera, during your p*rn-site visit.
And now I have the record of your m*sturbation.
We downloaded your contactlist so if you want us to keep this secret you have to send 360 USD in bitcoins.

Enter this wallet address to pay
14FWQ7WSHNFqLzQJvVRcuWyzNK3gu93yad
(something like a credit card number)

If you write back on this message my system will automatically forward you the proofs that I manage your OS.

After your reply You will be given new transaction info and you will have to send 20000 USD instead of the first sum.

Good luck. Dont forget about the disgrace.

I know this one had to be fake...I always shut the laptop first...

Funny stuff John, you need to turn the game around on them. There’s been a Canadian IRS scam going on up here, had a voicemail on my cel phone one morning. First part of the message was missing, but I got the jist of it, and the threat the police would be knocking on my door, if I failed to respond. Huh, you don’t say. The number was in Quebec, and there are no offices in that area. I call back, it sounds like a bar, it’s so noisy, and a Frenchman answers. This is how it went.
“I’m calling in response to the message, I received from you.”
“How long ago you did received the call?”
“About 10 minutes I guess”.
Very good sir, hi need your name, and social security number.
“Nope.”
“What you mean, “Nope”?
“Nope means nope, does that require further explanation?”
“Sir, you realize we at CRA can trow you hin jail, for failure to ressspond?”
“No, you can’t. Now, what’s YOUR name and employee number, asshole?”

“HI’M SORRY, you ave a wrong number!” Slam!

I absolutely LOVE these calls. It's sorta like when you're having a dream and you realize it's a dream so you just do whatever you want realizing you'll just wake up from it. I always change it up a bit to keep it interesting but the best thing to do is make them believe that you believe they are real, keeps them on the hook.

I've gotten the "laptop porn" thing before and told them I was getting into the adult industry so the free marketing would be helpful and also asked them how I looked on camera lol.
I've gotten the "police are on their way" so I told them good I could use some free food and a warm place, my name is Matt Foley and I currently live in a van down by the river. (SNL reference) and while I give them directions they hang up.

These people really do brighten up my day.

If anybody wanted to get elected, all they would have to do is make this shit stop. I get about 10 or more phone calls a day that are fake. It has rendered my land line almost useless. I don't even answer the phone anymore. Then the mail box has about 3 fake messages on it every day by evening time.

We do have it good though. My wife's family in Indonesia had a late night scare last year. Most people in Indonesia do not have land lines but almost everyone has cell phones, just like here. Seems someone stole her older brother's phone, who is in his 30's and lives on his own. They got into his contacts and called his Mom, (my wife's Mom) at 2 AM and said that he owed them money and they were going to kill him if she didn't pay. Something like $500 USD, a lot of money in Indonesia. They gave directions on where to take it or leave it ect. and said if they didn't have it in the next 2 hours her son was dead. She tried calling her son and she got a text back saying, Mom, please help me, pay them and I will pay you back. Luckily, my wife also has a little brother that lives at home with his Mom and he was able to go to his house in the middle of the night and find his brother at home sleeping.

I have a business partner in Indonesia that I have been doing business with for 20 + years. He got hacked or a phone hacked or stolen, I forget exactly. But I got an email asking for $2500.00 to be wired to an account because he got arrested and mugged and had his wallet stolen and was in trouble and needed the money to get out of jail. In Indo it is not uncommon to pay your way out of jail. This is someone at the time I was wiring money to several times a month. It was all fishy for sure but I would have wired it in a heart beat if it was his normal bank account but it wasn't. I know him that well. I was able to get a hold of his office and get the explanation but still. That is pretty messed up. They play hard ball there.

I’ve been watching guys from all over the world screw with these guys. There are some really tech savvy guys out there who use virtual desktops and re-lable viruses as «interesting» files. So when the scammers think they have control over the computer and click on «bank details» etc, the whole call centre’s computers go bust. Sometimes they get into their lap tops and take their names, lists of best scammer,s take control over their webcam and look at them while they are trying to scam. The reactions are priceless Grinning
