I have a 2018 devinci Spartan, it's an awesome bike. I was deciding between the Spartan, a yt capra, and the Kona process. I got the best deal on the Spartan. I also have a banshee spitfire with 140. It's a sweet bike too. If I were you, I'd get the process 153. I have a ton of friends that ride, 3 have the newer process and they never say anything bad about it. It's almost hard to get a bad bike these days it seems.
*Edit, didn't see your post about the stumpy. Glad it's working out for your needs.

I have a 2017 Stumpjumper 27.5+ (6fattie). Love the bike, headed into my 3rd season riding with it. Came from a full suspension Rocky Mountain. I mostly ride pretty technical XC with some mild-moderate DH runs thrown in. It's perfect for that type of riding. The plus-tires climb rooted-out uphills better than any of my friends' 29ers or standard 27.5's. Occassionally I venture into the Catoctin mountains for some more serious DH, and it does okay but the suspension gets overwhelmed once the terrain gets super rough and the dropoffs get steeper. If I keep the bike I will probably upgrade the shock to a reservoir unit with more air volume and a larger shaft.

I've ridden two full seasons and beat the piss out of this bike, 15-20 miles per week in the spring and summer and it has been almost totally problem free. Just routing maintenance and adjustments.

Like others have said the Stumpy is really good for almost every type of MTB riding, but not necessarily the best at anything. Mine is the base FSR alloy. I got it brand new for $2800. If I could do it again, I'd probably spend the extra ~1200 for a carbon model as the weight is the only real downside to my bike.

So I ended up with 19 comp stumpjumper 27.5 12 speed. After riding this bike back to back with a 2018 Kona 153 alloy I really enjoyed the stumpjumper more. The stumpjumper is lighter and also seems to handle a little better in the tight stuff. The 153 is probably a beast going down the mountain fast but I’m happy with my decision.
hell yeah bro, enjoy!

my next bike will be a 27.5 for sure

All of the top brands new 29r bikes with the shorter headset are the way to go(up to date geometry). They have made them feel like a smaller bike and work great all over the trails and mtn, this is my 2018 Norco Range c1 carbon 29r, amazing bike.

Previous to riding a new 29r I would have never considered one, but I did a demo day @SunPeaks resort on a newschool 29r and bought one the next day, I was currently riding a Giant Reign which is a great bike, but the new School 29r railed the tight berms just as good as my smaller bike, but was a BEAST once pointed down the mtn, also climbing was incredible.

Far from the best all mountain bike, but maybe the best deal ever. Just scored a 2007 Kona coiler near perfect condition for $300.00. I think back in the day this was called a "big hit" bike.

Don’t forget about hardtails haha. I have a new Santa Cruz chameleon and have been having a ton of fun on it. It’s a 27.5+ with 2.8 tires and 130mm front fork and can be swapped to 29er as well. Hardtails aren’t for everybody but you can get a higher spec ht for the same or cheaper than a lower spec fs. They are kinda like two strokes! One of the big things that sold me on SC was the warranty, lifetime on frame and bearings if you get a fs. I’d say warranty is a big plus to buying new.

Also some bike shops will sell their demo bikes for up to 40% off and you’ll still get the warranty and they will go right through the bike before you buy it. I think that’s a better deal than going used from private party. Good luck
I love my Transition Vanquish HT 29er but wouldn’t want it for an only bike unless you are riding mostly smooth trails. My other bike is a 180mm YT Capra and I wouldn’t want it for my only bike either, mind you. For a do it all bike I’d suggest something like the Scott Genius or Transition Smuggler. Long and slack geometry so they can get pretty rowdy but pretty efficient climbing/pedaling.

If I were to get anither bike it’d be the Commencal Meta Power 29 e-bike.

Great choice. Enjoy the hell out of it!

Are the 2019 29ers really that much more bad ass than the 2018s? Even hardtails with this new frame geometry in the 2000-3000 dollar range

No, there isn’t anything groundbreaking out for 2019, other than some manufacturers are showing up late to the party with modern geometry. There are many great 2018 choices out there that will be as good as anything offered for 2019.

Biggest news for 2019 seems to be Shimano 12spd drivetrain.

Other than geometry/design being influenced there’s not much new in recent years, other than the elimination of front derailleurs and increased clearance for wider tires.
