Just read Peter Tork passed away ...

I know none of you kids know who this is but he was a part of an amazing era of television in my early life.

RIP Peter you will be missed greatly.

Loved the show. And for a band that was fake/made for television at first, they did indeed put out some great music.

Cool show watched it much was a bit saddened to find out later they didn't actually play on their records. While they could play they didn't play on any of their records just sang.
All the instrumentation was done by the famous "Wrecking Crew" a group of session musicians in LA that played on just about every hit in the 60's and 70's.
Story goes Peter showed up at the recording studio with his bass thinking he was going to play on the record and was told all that was taken care of.

Folks would be surprised at how many bands from the 60's 70's even today didn't/don't actually record their material.
It was pretty standard for session musicians to do the studio recording.
Even today many bands have ghost musicians record for the album instead of actual band members.
On the Beach Boys phenomenal Pet Sounds record not a single beach boy played a note except Brian Wilson.
He hired the Wrecking Crew to do the entire record.

Mille Vanille time?

Eleanor Rigby. Not a Beatle played on it. Paul John and George only did vocals.

They were far more culturally influential than given credit for. There's something to said about being "avant garde" while still respecting social norms. Compliantly hip...is that even a thing?

Tork and Nesmith could both play, and both wrote.

Michael Nesmith's mom invented liquid paper.
Just saying.

GODSPEED PETER TORK. Many happy memories because of you.

He is probably dead already, just too stoned to realize it.
