Looking forward to seeing how Redbull gets on...

Renault's Formula 1 teams have been given the all-clear to run their engines at full power in the Australian Grand Prix this weekend.

The French car manufacturer's power units have had to run in a de-tuned specification so far to ensure reliability amid the teething troubles it suffered in pre-season testing.

But with software modifications to address its problems having delivered improvements on the dyno since the last test in Bahrain, Renault is now confident enough about the state of its equipment to allow its engines to run unleashed.

SANDBAGGERS! HA HA HA. I knew testing was a joke.

I figured they were playing a bit of a bluff. No way the reigning champs would come in so completely unprepared as to jeopardize the first quarter of the season figuring things out. Still would bet money that first engine failure is a Renault though!

F1 shows start now w/ a profile on Seb, then practice 1, followed by 2 shows about Ferrari, then Practice 2. It looks something like this: (all on NBC Sports)

Its surprising how much you can hear them spooling up through the intake when they are existing the corners facing you.

Session 2 just now started, damn i dont know how i will ever get use to this sound....it seems they are using a lot less onboard camera work, which was the highlight of F1 in the past, was downright eargasmic!

These cars are a disgrace to F1, they have completely killed off the whole F1 atmosphere being at the track and watching it on TV for that matter.

Check out what Nico Rosberg said about fuel. This sounds worse case than the engine sound!!!

Q: Nico, after all that guessing over the winter, how was it out on track today?

Nico Rosberg: It was great! Finally we’re in Melbourne. Today was so interesting - such an unbelievable lesson. If you thought you knew everything about racing, today showed that there is so much more out there! Take the fuel: we are so on the limit here. You have to save, save, save. And I believe that with our engine we are in good shape. I don’t want to know how the others are doing - under what pressure they are under. I could imagine that saving fuel for some others is even a bigger topic than for us. Take this as an example: you can see lap by lap how much fuel you are using - and how much fuel you need to finish the race. I was always running a bit over that - I never reached the target, so it will be a very interesting race on Sunday, believe me. It’s almost like trying to circle the square: saving fuel and going fast at the same time! And on top of that the tyres do degrade quite a lot - something we didn’t expect from our experiences at the tests. So a mega task is waiting for all of us - and an amazing race for the fans.

The onboard sound sort of reminds me of the Audi R18 and the other diesel prototypes.

And honestly, I so far really like the new face of F1, it's really interesting. No one has any idea of what's going to happen.

The FIA are fucking idiots. Saving fuel all race is not racing, all it does is cause for everyone to be conservative and not be able to be aggressive in the race. I've seen the same crap before in highly competitive online racing with several real V8 Supercar drivers included and it's terrible to watch at times, people run out of fuel on the last lap and near the finish line while others barely make it across the line, that to me is not racing and how I want to see races finish because so and so had slightly better fuel economy while he was miles off the pace.

The speed comparison with Coulthard driving last years Red Bull F1 makes these 2014 shit boxes sound soooo bad!

I am so happy I got to see F1 live, or should I say hear F1 live before they changed to these "engines".
Oh and drive one especially Smile
