He clearly had mental issues.

From the start of his Manifesto.

“In general, I support the Christchurch shooter and his manifesto. This attack is a response to the Hispanic invasion of Texas. They are the instigators, not me. I am simply defending my country from cultural and ethnic replacement brought on by an invasion. Some people will think this statement is hypocritical because of the nearly complete ethnic and cultural destruction brought to the Native Americans by our European ancestors, but this just reinforces my point. The natives didn’t take the invasion of Europeans seriously, and now what’s left is just a shadow of what was. My motives for this attack are not at all personal. Actually the Hispanic community was not my target before I read The Great Replacement. This manifesto will cover the political and economic reasons behind the attack, my gear, my expectations of what response this will generate and my personal motivations and thoughts.”

And here we go again, we’ll put this guy on a pedestal and give his whole life story for the world to see just like he wanted. Fucking sick, I don’t GAF what this guys motive is who who the hell he is for that matter, his name should be dead to society. It’s alright though, thoughts and prayers will cover us again while we don’t take even the simplest step to help curb the problem.

Honor the victims, report the incident, but never, ever say that fuck faces name again or give him the credit he wants by relaying his message.

As an outsider (i.e not an American) - what will it take (how many children have to be killed) before something has to change? Genuine question.

I got an question what’s up with all the news stations reporting that the shooters have “assault rifles”
Do they know what an assault rifle is?

Recently in the state of Oregon a convicted felon, working as a baggage handler, was caught stealing pistols from checked luggage. He stole 6 guns ,5 were recovered. He gave 1 to a friend, another convicted felon, and gang member. The guy gets a 6 month sentence for stealing 6 guns.
Also in Oregon, a licensed firearms dealer recently sold a rifle "off the books".The guy who he sold the gun to ,murders his ex.The guy who sold the weapon got 60 days in jail.
Both of these guys get a mild slap on the wrist for crimes that should have them locked up for twenty years.
Punishing criminals would be a great place to start!!!!

I'm assuming it's because sporting rifles and assault rifles look the same so they lump them all together. Could also be due to video games.

That question is asked and sensible people (not politicians) run into the same issue each and every time. Short of total gun confiscation, what would have or could have stopped any of the mass shootings? Drill down on any of the currently discussed solutions and you end up in the same place. There are 400 million guns among civilians in the US. A nutjob that's wants one will get one. Laws and regulations are only obeyed by honest, non mass murdering citizens. Then, there is the sticky little subject called the 2nd amendment.

I only answered your question because I believe you asked it in sincerity and not as way to jump in to a political argument which is where it always ends up once the usual suspects get involved.

It really depends on how serious the USA is about winning the War on Terror started almost 20 years ago and arguably worse at this point than it has ever been. How many resources are being put into preventing these terrorist attacks before they happen? There seems to be warning signs for most of these attacks if you know where to look.

Our hearts go out to all of these families. From California, Texas, to Ohio. It's been a very sad week. So many lives lost. I pray that Jesus Christ will comfort these families in their time of need.

John 16:33: I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

I didn’t know that shooting a bunch of people at a Wal Mart was now considered sport. 🤷‍♂️

Just a reminder, we don’t do politics in here. And yeah, you can consider that a warning shot.

Just a quick question but how did this have anything to do with politics?

There are a lot of posts (that are now missing) that were in that vein.

Yes, I was sincere in my asking of the question. I wasn't trying to be inflammatory.

I find it very strange how unwilling people are to ban or implement some serious restrictions on something that is proving so devastating. The right to bear arms is very odd, in my non American eyes.

Out of curiosity, do these shootings make you Vital users more or less willing to own a firearm?

doing nothing does not seem to be working well either,

their is no magic wand to fix this problem, but if something has started after Columbine, or Sandy Hook, then maybe you would be starting to see a drop in the number of these terrible acts, and by something, i mean restricting gun sales, and/or mental health treatment,

These shooting make me buy more guns, the only way to stop an shooter is to shoot back.
It’s not the 99% of Americans that own guns legally it’s the criminals and crazy’s

But if guns were banned you wouldn't need to shoot back.

I understand the idea of arming people to take out a nutter who is shooting, but it relies on people having the skill and guts to do so. So surely to remove the gun in the first place is the most sensible option as it would mean the nutter wouldn't be shooting to begin with.

Pikes Peak can ban bikes from racing in 2020 because Carlin Dunne unfortunately died. Cigarettes are targeted for cancer deaths, yet hundreds of people die from guns and it's okay to carry on easily selling them (not in all states from my limited understanding).

in a mass shooting in a public place, would untrained people shooting back randomly not just cause more injuries/fatalities?,

1- I didn't start anything political.
2- I never said shooting people was a sport. Just said why I think the news always refers to them types of weapons as assault rifles.
3- I didn't see all the posts.
4- Warning. Fine, I guess.
