What's up dudes, I'm in need of a laptop that will mainly just be used for podcasting, internet surfing, and the occasional video/photo edit. What should I go with that isn't going to set me back a fortune? I don't need anything crazy nice, but obviously don't want anything slow. I also can NOT stand touchscreen anything, so touchscreen capable laptops are not an option. I'm hoping for something even refurbished/used in the $300 or less range. Let me know what you guys think, thank you in advance.
I'd suggest looking for something that runs on the Intel 5 chip at the minimum or whatever the AMD variant is.
I don't know anything about Apple products but I know that you won't find what you're looking for within that budget.
As far as brands I use a Toshiba and it hasn't let me down. Also had good luck with Asus.
If you are editing videos and such, you want at least an i5 and an integrated graphics card if you can get it. I’d shoot for an Nvidia card, but AMDs aren’t bad; Nvidia seems to have the edge over them.
What software are you using for editing? They will list minimum requirements you should shoot for.
Stick away from HP, Dell, or Alienware. ASUS laptops are good and have good warranty. I am partial to MSi since they have a good warranty and specs for the price.

They are gaming laptops, but most all of them have good specs. You will want a lot of storage if you are editing videos. Most also have good CPUs that will keep up with anything you throw at it, and the graphics card will help when it comes to editing.
Plus side of the gaming laptops is a good deal of them have full size keyboards, good speakers, and are easy to upgrade and fix if they do break.
We use Windows 10 Pro only. I have Win 10 Pro on my Surface pro at work and Windows 10 Pro on my Desktop at home. They are the same.
One thing that drove me crazy with my Surfaces in tablet mode was when the screen keyboard would switch between upper and lower case after signing on. My security for some of my stuff requires me to use upper case letters for my initial password, and if I don't take off the caps lock before actually signing in, it sticks in caps lock for the whole session. It took me a while to figure out that I had to switch off caps lock before hitting enter, but when I remember to do that it works fine.
