So we got 4,000 Americans killed, 25,000 seriously wounded, and spent $600 billion and counting, to wind up with a situation where the Maliki government attacks Sadr's Mahdi army, can't beat them, and then both Maliki and Sadr use Iran as a surrogate to negotiate a cease-fire. In other words, both Sadr and Maliki look to Iran for guidance when things get rough.
Before the invasion, I doubted Iraq had WMDs, like a lot of other people did. I doubted that Saddam Hussein had any operational ties to Bin Laden, like a lot of other people did. I doubted this would be quick, easy or clean, like a lot of other people did. I thought the most likely outcome would be that Iran would wind up the big winners, like a lot of other people did.
Somewhere along the line, the American justice system has to take a look at all of this and unravel it. Nobody in the world is stupid enough to have made that many mistakes unless they had some kind of ulterior motive. There's no way in hell Bush and Cheney are THAT stupid.
