Most of these people are just using the cover of being an "influencer" so they have something to call them selves while they fuck around spending their daddy's/trust-fund/boyfriend(s) money on hair, makeup, and clothes. Back in the day you had to have some kind of talent or an angle that made you interesting to be famous. If you aspired to do that you took up acting or playing guitar or playing a sport well. Now, thanks to the networks being cheap money grubbing fuckwads and pushing "reality tv" down our throats because it was cheap to produce you get all these people that think their talent is wearing high-waist jeans. Now mainstream media sucks. TV, movies, music because the money and control that used to go to artists is given to cop drama 39 or "political pundits", studio execs focus grouping the Chinese markets on the latest franchise, and some bullshit mumble rap trap shit.

Thankfully, there is some good underground entertainment happening if you know where to look. I guess I'm just getting old.

I heard the moniker just a couple of years ago and honestly had no clue what it was. So being curious I looked into what the story was about.

I swear I couldn't believe what it meant !! Some chick was at a hotel wearing almost illegal clothing talking about how their trip was and how the hotel wasn't going to comp the rooms for their review.

I laughed my ass off !!

Same reason historically radio represents or tv personalities have been well paid, it’s all about how much attention they can capture.
Advantage of modern ‘influencers’ is that they are more targeted at the market segment you might want to aim your product towards.

My old housemate dates one. She’s a nice enough girl, but she will show ZERO pictures of them together on any of her social media, giving the illusion that she’s single for followers. She’s even got him commenting on all of her posts as if they don’t really know each other, but he’s actually sitting right next to her.

In highschool i lost a bet and had to wear my socks to my knees all day. By the end of the day a huge number of kids were also following my new trend. Influencer. 30 years ago. 🤪
