Who are we "taking our country back" from?

I keep hearing that from Sarah, and Beck and others, and I see it on bumper stickers, and I always wonder, "who took it in the first place and where did it go?"

Did Russia take the USA?

Who "took our country?"

Hopefully they mean the Chinese and all of those other countries that own our debt.

Beck is sounding just like the crooks on PTL, taking us back to god. I have nothing against belief, but when that means you know what is best for everyone, then it is scary.

I heard most of that exactly the way you've written it on Chris Matthews the other day. Can't remember if it was him or a guest but you sure did nail it.

Maybe take it back from the Democratic control who's spending money faster than we can ever pay it back. Hearing that big "R" word creeping up again I'm sure Obama will make eveyone feel good again with a big stimulus check.

Yeah, but aren't democrats also Americans?

So who took the country?
Where did they take it?

If Democrats are Americans, it was their country to begin with, just like it's the republicans and independents country as well.

So, who took the country?

Can't say it was taken, but it is a way different world we live in now compared to 20 years ago. Only thing I remember 20 years ago was 20% loan interest during the Carter Administration. After that it didn't seem so bad.

The country has been spending out of control since WWII. It isn't a problem limited to one party..it is a problem limited to government and their inability to manage money.

Our government at every level is dysfunctional. We need to get back to the basics.

Yeah but here "lately" is way out of character, but how else is he going to spread the wealth.

Umm anybody heard of the Fair Tax? Would the spending be this far out of control if we had the fair tax in place? I'm not smart enough to explain it but why is the current government running scared from it?

Spending will be out of control as long as they are able to borrow money and spend outside of their revenue.

Fair tax would mean poor people and people with kids wouldn't get lucrative tax subsidies from the governement through income tax code. It doesn't fit the socialist agenda.

Carter was 20 years ago? As far as big-spending Democrats, the only president in the last 30 years that ever balanced a budget was a Democrat - right before the Republicans took control of the country and destroyed its economy. But don't let facts stand in the way of a good story.

Apparently, we're supposed to take it back from the people's choice in the last election. But who knows? When you're selling propaganda, fear is good, conspiracy theories are good, threats are good, hints of violence are good, but rational argument is useless.

I am speaking on my behalf here and not that of Glenn Beck or Keith Olbermann.

"WE",the people need to take it back from government. Who has proven time and time again that it is inept ( and controlled by lobbyist, ie" campaign contributors" ) in making decisions based on what is best for "WE" the people, not them darn it!

They think can run everything and do it right, but only prove they run most things into the ground.

No "proof" No "news articles" No "statistics" here to back up my opinion, just what I see and live through for a lousy 50+ years.

I don't see how any one can disagree with this opinion but, I know some of you will. Am I racist, hateful, and fearful? No pickin way, so don't throw all that crap in to the mix either.

I am not grand standing for any particular political point of view here either. Both sides are just as corrupt as the other, and you're a fool to believe otherwise.

Do I hear an Amen?.....................oops, did offend any one?SadTongue

And BTW the racing today was exceptionable, no?

No, I just want to replace all of the current elected officals with new ones over the next 3 - 4 election cycles, regardless of what party they belong to.

It was nice to look at the paper last week and see most of the incumbants in the losing column when looking at the results. I live in a Republican heavy county, and a number of incumbant Republicans lost thier jobs last week to the other Republicans running against them. I hope to see more of this in November with incumbants being shown the exit door.

I am done voting along party lines for a while. I am going to vote for the new guy or gal regardless of party. In situations where you have 2 people with political experience running against each other, then I am voting for the one with the least amount of experience.

Everywhere in govt needs a good enema right now, city, county, state, federal.

We are going to take our country back by telling all these life long politicans that they are all fired. At least that is what I hope happens.

Well, my first reaction to your response is that silly piece of paper called The Constitution

Your plan is to abolish The Constitution?

Wasn't your complaint Obama's lack of experience?

He was going up against a far far more experienced and more entrenched Washington politician, so you're saying Obama was the right choice?
