If the Chinese could build a wall in the 5th Century BC why no US Fence

The great wall of China was built in the 5th Century BC and maintained clear through the Ming Dynasty and still stands today.

Why can't we at least throw up some barbed wire to keep the Mexicans out?

The housing projects here locally all have beautiful well constructed ornamental iron security fences around them paid for by you and me. The houses themselves are trashed, but the fences are sweet. Nicer than the one I have at my house.

I was watching that movie 'The Mexican' the other day, and all thru the movie the main character was being asked to see his passport by mexican cops. How come all over the world Americans are expected to show a passport and proof of identity, but if we ask the same here we are bad guys?

Works for me. Put all those lazy welfare assholes to work building us one like that. The 'Greatest Generation' werent afraid to work for the WPA or CCC for government assistance (and were glad to have the work), why not put career welfare bums to work? That would be one governmental expenditure I would gladly help fund.

I think the term is "Federal welfare," and that's bad
Putting people to work with government money is bad, unless of course you're already a government employee or rely on government contracts in your business, then it's OK

Whoa, whoa, whoa, who ever said spend a single dime more than we are already spending? Im just advocating get some kind of return on investment, and possible provide an incentive to get another job and get off the system.

Too expensive to police. Bring back the WPA and the CCC type government assistance programs. It did wonders for the country back then, and it could do that today. Not with a literal "ball and chain" it wouldn't be.

Chain them to a 30/40/50/60/70 lb ball, and let them pound posts all day, right next to the welfare types. That'll give them all the motivation to change their lives.

I actually support government assistance programs, but there should be a quid pro quo. Not get free money, and you get to sit at home watching Springer and eating moon pies all day.

We didn't get rid of slave labor. We just outsourced it oversees. It's good business practice. It's more ethnical and easier to digest even for the tree hugg'n liberals. We have plenty of Chinese working in NYC sweat shops who could lend a hand.
