Anyone other than me watch these two shows? The hutterites are proof if you breed to close to the root you get some fucked up branches. 59 people in the colony and they are ALMOST ALL RELATED! They all look the same and talk the same, How do they get around not going to school after 8th grade also?

I caught the first episode of American Gypsies and WOW, The are a cross between mobsters and a cult very interesting how neither group is suppose to venture outside the clan. Us outsiders are English or Hagey........

Haven't seen the show but about 15 years ago I got to spend a fair amount of time on a Hutterite farm. One of the row crop consultants out of our office was their regular crop advisor, which surprised me initially because I had it in my mind that they wouldn't have been that eager to do business with a female.

I also thought they'd have horse drawn plows and stuff, but they were at the cutting edge when it came to equipment. They were some of the first farmers in the area to use GPS and variable fertilizer spreaders/mixers.

Totally different than what I had imagined or seen portrayed on TV.

I expect so, but reality doesn't always make for great stories, when you're dealing with stereotypes.

I use a trucking company for a lot of my work in North Dakota and every damn driver is a Hutterite. They are excellent workers but damn I can never understand a shitting thing they are saying half the time.

Ha! I thought I was the only one that watched this. Actually, I'm forced to watch it because my wife does.....but regardless, I usually watch it every week. And you're right, there's some fucked up shit going on there. The gypsies seem like a bunch of tweekers, and why do they all look like they are from Jersey Shore? I do have to say though that a lot of the gypsy chicks have some nice body's. But it is pretty disgusting how they have the young ass girls dress like whores and dance around like they do.
As for the Hutterites, they are on the complete end of the spectrum........a bunch of butt-ass ugly girls that all look and sound the same.

I like the Hutterites but damn that whole clan looks like they are 1 chromosome away from being a downsy,. They are some hard workers though I'll give them that. Torco your right those chicks they have to choose from would drive me to go outside the colony. Not much to work with.

Where do they get that accent, I noticed it "disappears" from time to time.

German is their "real" language. They use it for worship and amongst each other most of the time. The kids start learning English when they go to school.

There's a tale of Hutterites (and also other deeply communal religious sects) using "studs" from outside their colonies to provide a little variation to the gene pool.

I've heard this story since I was a little kid growing up in Manitoba. It's always somebody's friend or distant cousin that did the "deed" so I have a feeling this might be an urban legend.

A quick google search shows that Hutterites descend mostly from a group of 24 families that date back to the 1500's in Germany so it might be true. It certainly would make sense, but I remain doubtful until I meet somebody who has first hand evidence of the practice.

1500's ? Damn, hats off to them for staying true to what they believe in.
