You know it’s true. 🤷🏼♂️
The Shop
I personally think they’re kind of fugly. I bet they drive really nice though. No hate to the guys that love them. Honda is always a win from me.
The redesign is better IMO. Still ugly, but at least the styling isn't so ridiculous. Still some the same issues though. It's in the midsize range, but doesn't outright beat the competition at really anything besides ride quality. When the competition includes the Tacoma and Ranger, Honda should've went all in and hired engineers from Ford/Ram/GM/Toyota/Nissan. Built a proper body on frame platform with a 6'+ bed option. Truck based/tuned engines. 4wd low range.
At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if most half ton buyers never haul more than a few kids and groceries. And never leave asphalt roads. They want the look and capabilities. Honda doesn't have it. The other midsized trucks do a good job of being middle ground. If they didn't want to build a real truck, Honda should've went to the compact market and focused more heavily on gas mileage. THAT would've sold. Instead Hyundai did it, and Ford is headed there. The Ridgeline is gonna be dead in the next few years. Bet.
Maybe it'll come back in a compact platform not based on a Pilot. I sure hope so. A compact Honda truck with a hybrid drive train, ought to get 40+mpg and zip right around crowded city streets.
Those Ridgelines serve a purpose and are much better built than anything other than a Toyota. Even the first generation Ridgelines had the innovative 2 way tailgate and under the bed "trunk" . They aren't going to tow your 7,000 lb trailer but they aren't designed for that either.
The unprovoked criticism is pretty sad. If you don't like the Ridgeline, go buy yourself an F350 Dually Diesel , re-stud your heads and replace your turbo's and live happily ever after, lmao !!!
I have 35+ years in the retail automotive industry and scoop up every Ridgeline we can find for resell. Trouble free
Which is just a cry for help for whatever insecurity they have. Then they get out of the truck and it's like a toddler stepped out.
People should just buy what they want / what suits them.
If you are a contractor, carry a lot of shit regularly, get a full size truck.
if you generally want something that drives more like a car, and occasionally carry a little bit of extra stuff. a Ridgeline is a good option.
But i get it, we all fall into the "you should like exactly what i like or you are wrong" mentality.
Pit Row
Are you saying Joe Exotic is not a real man?
The issue with getting F150 sized trucks to have that kind of top end is the tires. With the weight of a full-sized truck, the available tires rated for high speed are slim pickings at best. Fancy up the Ridgeline's interior, slap some gaudy Type R wings on it and watch them fly off dealer's lots at 100K a pop. The whole Ridgeline lineup gets a boost, much like the Mustang lineup looks better with a GT500 leading it.
Because no one else is doing performance with a mid-sized truck, and the current fastest truck on the market is the 700hp Ram TRX with a pathetic 117mph top speed.
Because it would be a halo vehicle for Honda (or anyone else that decides to make a truly high-performance mid-sized truck).
Because logic has little to do with why most vehicles are purchased. They are are purchased on emotion, then the "logic" follows to justify the purchase. "I could have bought a Tacoma and a BRZ, but I only have space for one vehicle in the garage, so the RTR (Ridgeline Type R) really fit my needs best"...
That said, there's no reason Nissan couldn't drop a GTR drivetrain in their Frontier, Chevy a LT2 into a Colorado, Ford with a 5.0 or 3.5EB in the Ranger. Tacoma with a Lexus SC500 engine.
I will send you what I think it’s worth retail and I’ll give you a real cash offer on it as well. I need inventory pretty desperately at the moment. However, I will tell you that if you are planning on selling, don’t wait too much longer, we’ve already seen a slight softening of the market in the past week or so.
