@borg

Sorry to hear about your sister. Condolences to you and your family.

I use to find solace in many of these songs. Mostly now they send me down rabbit holes.

For Dog Lovers. Don't say losing a dog never broke your heart.

If this one doesn't get you I don't know what will. Gord Downie wrote this for his sister, who lost her son at an early age due to a heart condition. It was on their 1991 album. They did not play this song live for many years because it was too painful, until the past ten years or so. This was shot on their farewell tour when Gord was deep in the throws of terminal cancer.

I have super shitty internet and no skills. I didn't take time to look through all the pages but what I did see was mostly rock. I am here to tell you that there is no genre that has "gut wrenching" tied up, hog tied, in the freezer, anywhere close to country music.

I have no skills but if you've got the time and inclination...give these a listen.

Don't Take the Girl. Tim McGraw

Holes in the Floor of Heaven. Steve Wariner

If You're Reading This. Tim McGraw

Feed Jake. Pirates of the Mississippi

Monday Morning Church. Alan Jackson

It's probably my country upbringing but I cry like a baby when I hear these songs...and I ain't ashamed of it.
